This child watched through a broken window as we worked inside. It’s times like this when the natural, uncontrived symbolism of circumstance just presents itself to you and all you have to do is click. There was not pretence, no staging, no crap. Just reality. It still engages me now. Look at his eyes. What is he thinking? He’s aching. He is full on aching. 2008. Age 21. This was drawn in pencil and outlined in black biro pen. I used watercolours to add colour and then finally polished up a little in photoshop. This picture was inspired by an image I saw in the magazine ‘ImagineFX’ (whilst cheekily flicking through in the shop!). I had no reference whilst drawing this, just used the image left printed in my mind, so how close it is to the original inspiriational piece I cannot say. I didn’t want it to look the same tho… I wanted her to look a little sad and dreamy, like she is waiting for someone.

My new wolf friend seemed to like having his pictures taken – he stared “up close and personal” right into the lens. Thanks for taking the time to look at my pictures ,and welcome to Beauchamps Falls high in the hills of the Otways Ranges NP,this one was quite a walk to get into and there were lots of photo opportunities on the way down ,which stalled the proceedings even longer ! / If you look closely you can see the ferns and plants still growing quite happily behind the water ! and l was quite taken with the natural bridge in the form of a fallen tree that had dropped over the top !! Beauchamps falls is located in the Otways NP Victoria Australia /
