Canon 1Ds Mark II / 1/1000 second / f/7 / 840 mm focal length
Taken at Currumbin on the Gold Coast in front of the surf club. A couple of teenagers were mucking around in the waves off the rocks and I was fortunate enough to capture one of them being picked up in the wash off the rocks as it hit an incoming wave. Their mates were laughing at them from the shore.
Gosh I cant wait until the surfing season starts again…. The Beast, Thurso, Caithness, Scotland Featured at SEA / Featured at Highland & Island Photographers / Featured at Going Coastal
Shot at Wainuiomata Beach on the rugged wild south coast of New Zealand’s North Island, these rocks are a favorite of mine, the seventh wave in the set is pure TNT. Five mins latter and its all over, once the sun clears the hill the light is too bright to shoot. look at the image below, taken half an hour earlier, the light is softer and warmer, now you can see how harsh the the light is once the sun starts to clear the hill. This was part of a mutual learning curve with Henk Stolk who I’m sure will never take another dry seascape again ;-) Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm lens / Wainui Rush

A couple walk along Gibson Steps Beach (near 12 Apostles) as the shallow tides do their dance on the sand.
Part of life, sometimes you come unstuck and wait for the pounding of nature.
This is not one of the best wave photos but you can really feel the energy of the wave breaking. To take photos like this you have to shoot freehand while body surfing with it,,,, hence the title,,,, Wipeout !!! That’s what happened !!!
From an original painting showing the moment a ride becomes a swim…
Just had to include this shot.

A skateboarder about to wipeout.
I decided to stop by a notorious snow sledding hill on a beautiful winter afternoon, just to see if there might be some “action” to photograph. This was the last major snowfall of the year and I was not disappointed by what I found! Everyone, young and old, appeared to be having loads of fun! These lovely young ladies were obviously having an absolute BLAST! They were riding a colorful two-seat snow tube from the very top of the hill, over and over again. The gleeful expressions on their faces confirmed exactly what a delightful experience they were enjoying. This one captured moment simply tells the whole story! THIS IMAGE IS AVAILABLE AS A CUSTOMIZED CHRISTMAS CARD. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A SPECIAL GREETING OR SENTIMENT ADDED TO THIS CARD, JUST CONTACT ME THROUGH BUBBLEMAIL WITH YOUR REQUEST. I WILL UPLOAD THAT VERSION TO REDBUBBLE TO MAKE IT AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE. This photo was captured “handheld” using a Canon EOS 10D camera with a Canon EF 100-300mm f/3.5-4.5 USM telephoto lens at maximum focal length. The shutter speed was 1/4000th sec at f/4.5. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. Featured in “ImageWriting” Your comments are always welcome!
