A large percentage of the world’s honeybees have been MIA lately. Nobody knows for sure what the causes are, and we are just beginning to grasp what the effects in long term may be, but I am absolutely certain of one thing – this can’t be good news for Winnie The Pooh! This was my first project for my Digital Illustration class with David Hylton. Pen & Ink drawing, scanned into Photoshop, then colored in using different textures from photographs. Turned out to be a pretty big hit among my peers :)
On August 24, 1914, Lieutenant Harry Colebourn, V.S., of the 34th Fort Garry Horse & / Canadian Army Veterinary Corps, purchased a black bear cub at White River, Ontario, / while enroute overseas. He named her WINNIE after his hometown, Winnipeg. WINNIE became the soldier’s mascot, and was left in the care of the London Zoo on December 9, 1914 while Lieutenant Colebourn served in France. In 1919, he gave her to the Zoo for permanent keeping where she was watched and loved by many, including author A.A. Milne and his son Christopher. I took this photo at home of my son painting Tigger. I mainly concentrated on getting him to keep the brush still for me on his way to the paper! / This macro work is untouched (don’t ask how many shots it took to get this!!)
Among the Alphabet Bird, W is for WREN, one of my favorite birds because of its LOUD song and abundance of attitude! W is for Wade, Woody, Wilda, Wynonna, Will, William, Willy, Wally, Wesley, Winnie, Wanda, Watson, or anybody who is wise, winsome, wonderful, warm, Welsh, wholesome, witty, worthy—a WINNER!

When strife and stress seem to capture our lives, / and worries rob our calmness; retreat back to the / days where dreams and complexities were simpler / and problems were trivial. They still are in relative / terms as we remember bears and owls, / magic wands and rabbits. The third verse to Kenny Loggins’ song is as follows; “It’s hard to explain how a few precious things / Seem to follow throughout all our lives. / After all’s said and done I was watching my son / Sleeping there with my bear by his side. / So I tucked him in, I kissed him and as I was going, / I swear that the old bear whispered… boy welcome home.” Wonderful little places are gifts.
Digital painting of Winston and his wife, which.. hmm .. it’s hard to explain how long it’s taken. lol Winston sent me this picture years ago, maybe in 1996. He’d have to be the one to tell you about dates, really, as it could have been longer than that, or maybe it was 1999 or … I just don’t know. What I do know is that the picture was a photo of him and this woman, who was either the one he was going to marry or the one he had just married. Can’t even remember that much, sorry. Later on, he started a site/group on MSN and he asked me to help him decorate it, etc. It was called ‘Belgarion’s Castle’. So, i made a placard sort of thing for it, and some paintings of castle areas for the different areas of the site. Including a painting of him and his wife (as they were married, by then) with crowns and robes and a scepter, to be the King and Queen of the Castle. I don’t think his wife liked it much, as he, later on, asked me to tone things down in that particular manner that men ask such things when a woman has gotten jealous; and, hes’ talked to me a good deal less, since then. Bummer, as we were very good at talking. For the record, I cannot say for certain that she was jealous, or that if she was she still is, or etc. All I can say is that I honestly never thought of him quite that way. To me he is funny, and a darling, and a great friend, but .. I was waiting for someone else … Anyway, I recently found that painting and realized it was rather crap, if you look at it large enough. So I did a lot of alchemy and repainting, and such, on it, and came up with this new version. No idea when I finished the first one, allegedly, but, as it was unsigned and not very good (except the colors were excellent) I consider it officially finished today; around 7:am, for you sticklers!
I just love Eeyore and I hope you do too! P.S. Eeyore isn’t the only one who wishes you a Merry Christmas, we do too! :)

was fortunate enough to witness and photograph a miracle. This Clydesdale gave birth to twin fillies just 12 hours before this picture was taken. This is Molly with Bella. Unfortunately she has rejected the other foal, which is a very common thing with horses that give birth to twins. Little Winnie Belle is being bottle fed every four hours at the moment but her owners are hoping that mum will change her mind. I contacted the Clydesdale Horse Society to find out what the stats are on Clydesdales having twins and the kind gentleman there told me that he couldn’t give me any stats as such but the last pair of surviving twins that he was aware of were in the 1960’s. I have sent the pictures and the story through to the local paper The Illawarra Mercury hoping they will print it, as it is a real miracle. The good news for little Winnie is that a 26yo palomino called Creamy has become a bit of a surragate mother to her. And she has lots of carers of the 2 legged kind helping her out. They weighed about 20kg each (a single Clydesdale foal is about 60kg). I’ve probable put too many pics up but it was such a wonderful experience, i couldn’t help it.
Created by the late William Epp, the near life-size bronze sculpture depicts a stalwart military officer, in full First World War uniform, holding a standing bear cub by its forepaws. Man and bear are gazing steadily into each other’s eyes, looking for all the world as if they’re waiting for some unseen orchestra to strike up a waltz.
Christopher Robin and Pooh wait for their friends to arrive – deep in the Hundred Acre Wood. :)
Not a lot of people know that Tigger was a gun loving cool cat. Watch out Pooh! Enjoy. Brother Adam Youtube Video .
Taking a break from PvZ for awhile. Just to see if people like my actual art rather than other peoples’ characters and such. Enjoy it while it lasts. I’m not good enough to keep this original thinking going for long.
This is a little lost kittie that was found last Thursday. The vet says she is about 5 weeks old. I am fostering her until she is old enough to find a home for her. If you happen to be in my area, please contact the local Humane Society if you would have a little bit of room in your home for this little girl. All she wants is some love and attention. She loves to run (and boy can she run), she loves to play with our cats and our dogs. / / / Featured in “Cats n Dogs” Group in Aug 09. Thank you so very much to the hosts and everybody else. I appreciate it so much. / / / / / /

Was walking along and saw this book next to a lamp post. I’m a bit shy about taking photos so decided not to take a picture of it as some woman was walking towards me. I carried on walking and looked back when she passed me only to see her pick it up, much to my annoyance. Then I headed back in the direction I came from to see that she had decided to leave it in this bus stop. / So I got a shot in the end. Taken in Lincoln, near the prison and the hospital on my Sony Ericsson K800i mobile phone.
