  • Buyer’s Booth Picture The 1966 FIFA World Cup was held in England from July 11 to July 30. England won the final, beating West Germany 4-2, giving them their first and as yet, only World Cup triumph, and notably the first controversial final match in the world cup history. London’s Wembley Stadium was the venue for the final, and a crowd of 98,000 crammed inside the famous stadium. Just 12 minutes had gone when Helmut Haller put West Germany ahead, but Geoff Hurst levelled just four minutes later. Martin Peters then put England ahead again in the 78th minute and England looked set to claim the title. However, the referee awarded a free kick to West Germany with one minute left, the ball was aimed goalward and Wolfgang Weber poked it across the line to level the scores at 2-2 and the game went to extra time. In the 98th minute Hurst’s shot hit the crossbar, bounced down into the goalmouth and the long running debate has gone on ever since on whether it did cross the line. In the last minute Hurst completed his, and the only ever, World Cup Final hat-trick, just as the crowd started to invade the pitch BBC commentator Kenneth Wolstenholme’s historic commentary has become one of the most famous sports related lines: “Some people are on the pitch. They think it’s all over.” (Hurst hammers the ball into the net) “It is now!”.

  • Featured in Snow! Glorious Snow!! on September 14th, 2009. On a frigid winter day this bright red cardinal certainly stood out against the snow. Especially since he insisted on hanging around long enough for an entire photo shoot. He was hoping for some seed I guess. (and yes he was rewarded). This image was captured in Lynde Shores Conservation Area in Whitby, Ontario, Canada. Taken with a Canon Rebel XS. This image was in the top 10 in the “Red and White” Challenge in Canada…”The Great White North” , and as such was featured both in that group and briefly on the RedBubble frontpage on February 2, 2009. The Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) or Redbird is a North American bird in the cardinal family. It is found from southern Canada through the eastern United States from Maine to Texas and south through Mexico to northern Guatemala and Belize. It can also be found on the Big Island of Hawaii. It is found in woodlands, gardens, shrublands, and swamps. The Northern Cardinal is a mid-sized songbird with a body length of 21–23 centimeters (8.3–9 in). It has a distinctive crest on the head and a mask on the face which is black in the male and gray in the female. It displays sexual dimorphism in its coloration; the male is a vibrant red, while the female is a dull red-brown shade. The Northern Cardinal is mainly granivorous, but also feeds on insects and fruit. The male behaves territorially, marking out his territory with song. During courtship, the male feeds seed to the female beak-to-beak. A clutch of three to four eggs is laid, and two to four clutches are produced each year. It was once prized as a pet, but its sale as cage birds is now banned in the United States by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918.

  • Part of the new BMW Welt Architectural concept by COOP HIMMELBAU. Located near the BMW factory in Munich, this photogenic building houses the delivery centre – if you personally come to pick up your new car:-) – events, exhibitions and shops and is linked to the BMW Museum next door. Well worth a visit when in Munich, even if you’re not picking up a car! I had seen so many shots of this amazing architecture but never gone by myself. On the way home from a photo session with friends I drove past and saw the amazing light – nearly causing a car crash as I swerved into their car park. This is just a small part of the bulding but the light of the crisp winter dusk somehow makes it especially appealing. I even went back the next day for more! Location: Munich, Germany. / Nikon D200, Sigma 18-200mm. f/14, ISO 800, 1.6s, 18 mm. Tweaking in CS4.
