Looking through the bus window on the way home, I see this playful movement of light and dark shades, between leaves and branches. It is a moment to be captured. Real image with no additional painting… The light painted it on my camera’s ccd sensor! I have set the camera on manual zoom, manual speed and aperture, so that the motion can be capture on shutter release. Behind the glass window of a moving bus, I hunt for the right angle of sun and the right tree, and follow throught the target like taking an image of a sport player. All about timing and a bit of luck! Love to see critiques and comments. All welcome. The view looking out onto Broad Street from a third-floor window of the Divine Lorraine Hotel in Philadelphia, PA. The hotel, which has been abandoned since the late ‘90s, takes it’s name from the leader of the Universal Peace Mission movement, Father Divine (aka George Baker) who housed his followers on it’s premises. Shot on Fuji Velvia 50 film with a Rolleiflex medium format camera.
Rain drops on a window, forming a beaded-curtain effect with golden out-of-focus orbs from the patio outside. I had my camera with me while in a cafe with my daughter and my sister, and I spotted the raindrops … then those golden orbs appeared in the viewfinder too. A lucky bonus! / . / I’m delighted that this photo has been featured on RedBubble’s front page - / . / / .
This is one of my personal faves. It was taken about 20 minutes after the Blue Wet Zebra. / The clouds were dark, the sky was colourful. / As i was fiddling with the cam, the sun came up like this! And the window was still dripping in a cool way. / I like this, coz it got my favourite colours in it!! As is! / 928 views / A bit abstract isnt it. Best viewed LARGE! The detail of the water drops is quite cool Featured in the Experimental Photography and Editing group!!! / !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man sleeping on the pavement in the French Quarter of Pondicherry. I was struck by the complimentary colours in the scene while driving by and stopped to take a few pics. Then the sadness took over. For Rob. As of 11.23.09, 1361 views, 31 favorites, and 94 comments Towards the end of the novel, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Milan Kundera writes: “And therein lies the whole of man’s plight. Human time does not turn in a circle; it runs ahead in a straight line. That is why man cannot be happy: happiness is the longing for repetition.” I wondered then when I first read the novel—some 20 years ago, and I wonder today about the relationship(s) (probable and hypothetical) between happiness and repetition. I’m not too keen on taking straight-on portraits as they can appear cross-eyed (as this does in the thumbnail), but I couldn’t leave this sleeping on my hard drive :) www.cathleentarawhiti.co.nz Model - Luna / To see more of Luna, you are most welcome to visit my Facebook page / or watch the telly (in New Zealand); she’s the new Nurofen/Lara Croft girl.
