  • As I play and interact with my little next-door neighbor, Kiley, I am reminded of this great Jars of Clay song, and I have to ask myself…am I living out my faith like a child? Dear God, surround me as I speak, / the bridges that I walk across are weak / Frustrations fill the void that I can’t solely bear. Dear God, don’t let me fall apart / you’ve held me close to you / I have turned away and searched / for answers I can’t understand. Chorus: / They say that I can move the mountains / And send them falling to the sea / They say that I can walk on water / If I would follow and believe with Faith Like a Child Sometimes, when I feel miles away / and my eyes can’t see your face / I wonder if I’ve grown to lose the / recklessness I walked in light of you Chorus They say that I can move the mountains / And send them crashing to the sea / They say that I can walk on water / If I would follow and believe / with Faith Like a Child They say that love can heal the broken / They say that hope can make you see / They say that faith can find a Savior / If you would follow and believe / With Faith Like a Child

  • And She Moves… On a waning summer noon / weathered by a drifting consciousness / a dry dusty swirl rises lowly in a corner / and in its stride lifts everything / in a shimmering grace… but then for none to fathom / it dies without a trace… by Rince Wind All artwork is © Rhonda L. • Taken on a windy day for Sam Ward’s first modeling portfolio. Light was natural, fairly harsh yellow sunset but it works well in duotone. FEATURED IN ! HAIRSTYLES ! JUNE 23

  • I shut my eyes to the sharp, stale wind from across a mountain of urban decay and step on the gas. The water whirls in colorful pools around the drain. I follow it and float on ribbons and glass bottles. The twirling pattern of “suppose to” and “should” loses momentum as I become lost in the valley without people. Once inside the cave, my eyes open and I see what I want to see. The seaside is raging against the walls of desert mansions. The crisscross lines of regret mingle with other labels, such as “experience” and “growth.” / I grab onto air and breath in the salty ocean spray and listen to bells of red and purple that chime like abandoned churches that are forever granting souls permission to sing. So I do that. Though I don’t have permission. And the wind joins me in a hymn to the sky and the ocean plays a chorus of melodies that engage the grains of sand to dance dance dance on a wall of fire that flings itself forward and shakes hands with me. “Don’t be afraid,” fire says. “I’m only destroying what is dead in order to bring to life another memory.” All on a Windblown Desert Sea is 22”x28” acrylic and gesso on smooth surface colored posterboard
