Sleepover tiger style – the Sumatran tigers enjoy the first warm rays of sun. Like all tiger species they are endangered with extinction – current estimates speak of 400-500 of them as the remaining wild population. / Recent genetic testing showed signs (unique DNA markers) that this tiger species may develop into a separate species should they survive the incursions of humans into their jungles. But that seems unlikely – as alone in the years 1999+2000 66 of these majestic animals have been shot, nearly 1/5th of the whole population, but despite those numbers logging and other habitat destruction is the major threat to their survival.
