Monument Valley is like a moonscape of amazing red rocks and earth. It was loved by the famous western Director John Ford and is the back drop to many of his classic John Wayne films. Like Stagecoach. Just over the border from Arizona it is truly unforgettable. One of the great places in the world to visit.

This is an 18th-century Spanish church. Only one church tower was completed and this seems to be a mystery to all. This mission is an active Roman Catholic church. For the past few years the church has been undergoing restoration. San Xavier del Bac Mission is an historic Spanish Catholic mission located about 10 miles south of downtown Tucson, AZ. The mission was founded in 1699 by the Jesuit missionary Eusebio Franscisco Kino. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1960. / Taken with my Nikon D-80, 18-135 mm lens. Bodie California, What a place when it was happening! Much of it had burnt down in the 1930s but what is left is quite something to see. This place is out in the middle of nowhwere 13 miles out on what used to be a dirt road. I have been comming out here since I was 15. The place has changed some. Back in the 60s there wasnt much to stop people from walking off with things. Today it is a state park and is protected by the state.Rangers actually live in some of the buildings. Yikes live ghosts. In the old days gunfights were a form of entertainment and it wasnt uncommon to have two or three a day. Kind of like east LA drive bys. Whats changed? /
