This wonderful oak tree is located in the foothills of the Tehachapi Mountains in Southern California. All the original limbs have been broken off by the snow loads of winter storms. The present limbs were regrown over the years. Photo taken during a blowing snowstorm.
Have you ever looked at something and thought ahhh a capture some day. Today was the day of the first attempt. It was a freaking blizzard out. High winds out in the country in my area the farmers call windswept. I headed into town for brunch at the pub. The roads were clear if you call two feet of snow in the good parts clear. High winds.. no courage to go to the tree. So after a good brunch and a few shots of whiskey neat style. I came back home.. I felt daring. Pushing snow with a big four wheel drive truck I went. There it was.. I fell in love. Out in the winds with the snow blowing hard I set the camera on a bean bag my wife made me for this purpose. Focus , Light , Frame, Oh God please.. Here is the first one. Maybe more. When a new sky appears.. storms or sunset we shall see.. I hope you find it in your heart to view large. I do so love you all on RB.. / Chuck This was taken a few miles east of Allegan, Michigan USA This Was Written By Ari..( Aritheeagle ) Thank You Can you tell? Title thanks to my husband… I was stumped and when I asked my husband for a suggestion for the title he said the daisies were natures beauty and shone amongst a gloomy winters day, which to him is the essence of winter. I took this on the way home after a Christmas Concert by the Big Rock Singers and just had to share it right away. We have had a dump of six to eight inches of heavy wet snow lasting all day, causing me to shovel several driveways several times today. However, the absolute beauty of freshly fallen snow mixed with blue Christmas lights makes up for any of the day’s toils. Hope you like it.

The snow last weekend was almost continual but light … creating an amazing, fantasy land of subtle color and soft light. As I shot this particular image, the sun was just appearing across the lake on the trees in the distance. It played hide and seek the whole time I was out. Fortunately, the winds were calm … so the branches were filled with snow. It was a dreary and grey day today. The fog was so thick so I decided to go for a drive to one of the lighthouses. This is an old outhouse hanging over the edge of the cliff next to the lighthouse. This is what the lighthouse keeper would use to scratch that itch… lol. It’s probably about 100 feet to the ocean straight below. / / What you can’t see in the image is that behind the outhouse there is nothing but open ocean for the next 3000 miles. / / Visit my website On The Rock Photography / / Canon 400D/XTI / 3 Shots. The first snow of the season, going outside with my camera i was fascinated from this young woman who was walking alone in this solitary country road.My attention was captured by her little red umbrella as if she wanted put a little bit of color to the melancholic atmosphere of that grey day.
