Trumpeter swans are making a comeback thanks largely to the efforts of Bill Long and the Trumpter Swan Fund. Check out their accomplishments below. National Elk Refuge adjoining Grand Teton National Park, Jackson Hole, Wy. Canon 40D, 100-400 IS lens, tripod, f11, 1/400 (got lucky!), focal length 400mm. Featured in: / - America’s National Parks and Wildlife Habitat, March 2009 – thanks so much! / - 300+ Go Long group, October 2009, thanks so much! / - A Vision Of Flight group, October 2009, thanks so much! / - Wild Birds in Flight group, October 2009, thanks so much! Trumpter swan recovery information – stunning progress! – / http://www.wyomingwetlandssociety.org/swan.restoration.htm / “Between 1994 and 2000, the WWS (Wy Wetland Society hosts the Trumpeter Swan Fun) and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department released 71 birds in the Green River drainage of Wyoming, which now account for 30 percent of the total number of swans in Wyoming, and nearly 40 percent of the adult swans outside Yellowstone National Park. In 2000 the organization began to work with The Confederated Salish Kootenai tribe of the Flathead Reservation in northwest Montana. The organization released 84 swans over a two-year period, producing the first nesting pair of swans in the Flathead in more than 100 years. Between, 2002-2005, the Society, FWS, and the State of Idaho released 27 swans on the Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge in Idaho, where 3 pair now use the refuge, compared to just one pair prior to the release.”

Barn Owl…..... With heart shaped face, buff back and wings and pure white under parts the barn owl is a distinctive and much loved countryside bird. Widely distributed across the UK, and indeed the world, the bird has suffered declines over the past fifty years as a result of the degradation of once prey-rich habitats in the face of intensive agricultural practices. This decline, fortunately, has halted in many areas and the population may now be increasing. / Where to see them Open country, along field edges, riverbanks and roadside verges. / When to see them All year round; during the day, but best at dusk. / What they eat Mice, voles and shrews
I was playing around with styles at first and kept placing the image through filters for the background. Then I added different photoshop brushes to create my theme and this what I came up with. I love the colors. /
