  • I am constantly searching for the SPIRIT of trees and forests and have found that I am drawn to the mystical in my subjects. They speak to me and challenge me to hear their stories and capture the ethereal rather than the absolute concrete. Using my camera as a brush on the forest palette of greens, browns, reds, ambers, yellows, grays, blues and purples I create my images in camera capturing a moment in time when I have stopped to listen and share the sylvan secrets offered to me. Here a group of pines, planted in rows along a country road offers up their story, through a visual whisper. • There is nothing so special as a misty morning in Pisgah National Forest, Western North Carolina, my favorite place in the world. The world is silent except for the soft whispers of water and mist. Pure magic. I added the Orton effect and changed the hue to create a more dream-like effect. Hope you like it! • I also experimented with this image in photoshop. I cut, cropped and merged two flowers from two different pictures together. I dusted them lightly with clouds (photoshop brushes) of different colors, basic brushes, special effect brushes and sharpened the image (filter gallery). I also altered the color (filter forge) and detail. Then I added swirls and leaves (more photoshop brushes) and added some style to it. I love the way this came out!!

  • Nikon D90 / Nikkor 50mm 1:1.8 D lens My daughter Abi and I were discussing photography the other day and she said I needed to stop being so traditional and try different things. So I was trying different compositions in our shoot yesterday. This was one of her favourites of the bunch. We had to agree to disagree on the colour vs. b&w. I love b&w’s and she said I needed to get away from that a bit more and do more colour…but I felt this one was stronger as a b&w. I have included the colour to get her off my back.
