A simple studio shot of mum and dad’s whisky bottle which i pinched for the day
Makes a nice picture to hang on the wall for a bar, or anyone fond of the bottle.
Size: 70×80 cm Crayons, watercolours, acrylics, scissors, glue, 3 lightbuls, THC, patience and Photoshop. Thanks to my amazing hubbie for the inspiration. This would have never come to my mind without him and the way he tells me things. And a couple of beers. And Clint Eastwood. And the Wild West !!!! Go figure.
/ This is a still life from my Nostalgia series / It’s created with the “painted with light” technique and digitally enhanced. Here is a tutorial on my work flow. Update: I’ve been around for a while now, so don’t forget to check out the rest of my Nostalgia series like more work / the calendar /
On showing this photo to a friend he admired the way I had patiently waited for the sun to reach just the right spot before taking the picture. In reality this shot was taken in a frantic hurry, I had sped down to the Prom trying to get there before sunset. Parked the car sprinted down to the beach set up the tripod and composed the shot, changed lenses ran another 50m down the beach recomposed levelled the camera and pressed the shutter. As a matter of course I always release the shutter on a ten second delay to avoid camera shake. On this particular occasion I was convinced the rapidly setting sun would disappear before the shutter tripped. Fortunately it all came together in the end. Massive granite boulders provide a stunning sight at Whisky Bay on Wilsons Promontory in Victoria.
Laphroaig may be my favourite tipple, but Lagavulin is delicious too. This is Lagavulin Bay on Islay, next to the distillery.

Top 10 Challenge Winner in Alphabet Soup (Letter J) The Grey Jay, AKA Canada Jay, Whiskey Jack, Camp Robber, is a jay that is a marvelous friend to hikers in the mountain meadows and paths of the highlands in western Canada. They have little fear of humans, which is so cool. They will even land on the hands and arms of those offering food. They are vulnerable, though, because they trust us, and because they inhabit sensitive ecological areas. This image was captured in Strathcona Provincial Park, Vancouver Island, Canada.
