WTF…but cooler sounding :)
On showing this photo to a friend he admired the way I had patiently waited for the sun to reach just the right spot before taking the picture. In reality this shot was taken in a frantic hurry, I had sped down to the Prom trying to get there before sunset. Parked the car sprinted down to the beach set up the tripod and composed the shot, changed lenses ran another 50m down the beach recomposed levelled the camera and pressed the shutter. As a matter of course I always release the shutter on a ten second delay to avoid camera shake. On this particular occasion I was convinced the rapidly setting sun would disappear before the shutter tripped. Fortunately it all came together in the end. The Crown Dining Liquor Saloon, Belfast This is my favourite watering hole, where you want the Guiness attached via an IV and to be left alone to contemplate the mystery of the inky black goodness standing before you.

Lake of Two Mountains, in the village of Oka Quebec, CANADA,taken on Saturday March 21st 2009 with Nikon D40, Nikkor VR 55-200mm lens. / The tracks you see carved into the ice in the foreground are made by the cars that pass daily on the “ice bridge” from one side of the shore to the other. This ice roadway is maintained by a private company, has been 100 years in existence and no accidents have ever happened. However, the day that we were there, we noted during the afternoon that several pools of water had emerged over top the ice in some places and we presume that was the last weekend of using the passage over the lake to get to the other side. All ready for a night on the town! Reminiscent of a bygone era when the dapper gentleman would hit the town in style. An elegant silver handled walking stick, white derby hat, cigars in a Spanish leather cigar case, and an 1881 Morgan silver dollar to pay the tab. There is also a bottle and glass of whiskey to get him started. Canon 50D – Canon 17-55 – f22 Also see the companion piece for the ladies! /

That’s right folks. I just had three shots of Hennigans and I don’t smell. Say you got a big job interview, and you’re a little nervous. Well throw back a couple shots of Hennigans and you’ll be as loose as a goose and ready to roll in no time.

Oil on Canvas / Original size 30×30cm Bowmore Distillery, one of the oldest in Scotland has stood on the shores of Loch Indaal, on the Hebridean Island of Islay, since 1779. / / Its close proximity to the sea is vital in determining the final character of Bowmore Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, as is the strict adherence to the traditional production methods handed down to Morrison Bowmore Distillers Ltd in 1963, by its four previous owners. Bowmore Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is produced using water from the Laggan River from where it gathers the flavours of the rich Islay Peat, the same Peat that fires the Malt drying kiln. scottnaismith.co.uk /

It’s Hallowe’en this weekend in the northern hemisphere, and Beltaine in the southern. It’s traditionally a time to embrace the darkness, and then release it. It’s harder than it seems, sometimes.
