  • On that sunny morning, Richard realized the biggest dreams are only as far away as the strength of his believes in them. United with his magic board and blessed with a fortunate combination of circumstances, he flew rings around gravity, without even breaking a sweat. For those concerned, no surfer has been hurt during the taking of this image. At all times, through the leash and his board, he was safely connected to Mother Earth.

  • This weekend I attended a stag-do in Woolacombe, and in between the drinking and general tomfoolery, we managed to hit the beach for a few hours. Some of the group decided to go for a surf (not me – my feet are happiest when they’re on dry land, thanks very much…!), so I followed with camera in hand… (Can you guess which one is the stag…??!!) Canon 400D, f4, 1/800, 76mm, ISO100, cross-processed in Photoshop using the Curves Adjustment layer. Red and green highlights were boosted, shadows reduced, and blue highlights were reduced and shadows boosted. See more of my work at Dan Biggins Photography.

  • This is Ralph, a Humboldt Penguin (spheniscus humboldti) at Marwell Wildlife. Ralph is currently nationally famous for sporting a wetsuit. Apparently the poor fella’s feathers all fell out and the wetsuit is a temporary measure to protect him from sunburn until the feathers grow back. He seems contented enough in his sports outfit and he doesn’t need to worry much longer if the weather is as bad as it was today! ;o) Canon EOS 5D MkII with Canon EOS 70-200mm L IS f/4
