Gotta love West Oz light. Especially at Sunset. Surfer leaves the water at Indgie Carparks as water rushes up in the foreground making it look like liquid metal.
Just driving around one night after work amazed by the reflection of the sun off the wheat stalks :)
This photo was taken during a extreme low tide just after sunrise at Monkey Mia in Shark Bay Western Australia. You could walk out about 100 meters from the beach before you got to the water! The location of Monkey Mia is the only place on Western Australia where the sun rises over the ocean. / As you can see in this photo the sun has been blocked by the large cloud formation, but can be seen in the reflections off the wet sand. A 10 shot stitched panorama! Taken with my 20D And 17-40 f/4 L. Featured In: Australia! This is the shot you must take if you go to Broome… the camel train at sunset on Cable Beach. The tide was on the way out and the residual water gave great reflections. / Taken on Nikon D200 with 18-200mm Nikkor lens / Aperture F16 Speed 1/80s
As we patiently awaited for the highly anticipated Australia Day 2007 fireworks, we were greeted by a rather unpleasant overcast and patchy sky, many thanks to the soaring 40C heat. Great sweat workout though. MORE WORKS FROM MY PORTFOLIO /
Here’s a favourite of mine from way back… (well, about 17 months to be precise). / Taking photos in the few small moments off here while I was working was one of the few joys I received over a couple of months and was quite happy with my takings from just one night, (same sunset I shot ‘Dancing Dampier Palms’). / Probably my first successful decent shoot of a sunset…so at the same time, this inspired me and has made me keen to improve since. Taken from the shores of Dampier in the Pilbarra region, Northern WA, Oz. Thanks for any looks &/or comments… / Cheers, / Matt.

Under the pier at Cowes, Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia at Dawn. Taken at the same time as Beginning of a new day for something a little bit different. It was pretty chilly, windy and way too early in the morning for me, it’s amazing how much lens distortion you get with a wide angle lens! / Settings Canon 40D, 10-22mm EF-S. This is the beach at a squatters town, Broke Inlet, at the end of a 4-wheel drive track, on the south coast of Western Australia, near Walpole. It is a fabulous place to explore, especially as – if they pull down the shacks – there may only be this view and a few pieces of driftwood left. Taken with Leica MP, 24mm lens, Velvia 100 film. This shot was taken before the sun came up.. I went to check out the sunrise, but a storm had blown in and there was very little colour other than blue on the eastern facing coast.. so I headed over to the west coast and took some photos at Sugar Loaf Rock.. I’m very happy I did as I just love this shot! These were the actual colours captured by the camera, I haven’t photoshoped the colours at all, I’ve just adjusted the white balance down somewhat in order to exaggerate the blue that was already there.. love this shot! 3 minute exposure @ f10, ISO100 / ND400 + ND8 + ND4Grad All comments appreciated Paul Pichugin / http://www.paulmp.com.au
