  • This was taken on the Wellington River near Licola in Victoria. A 15 second exposure allowed the reflections of the green foliage to blend smoothly together on the running water. / ~ / Browse Images by Category : Snow Landscape Nature

  • One of those borderline days when perhaps they shouldn’t really be playing netball. What struck me was the similarity to some early platform games.

  • Mt Wellington communication tower with lenticular cloud behind.

  • Digital near-Infrared photograph taken at Wellington Point, Australia. Taken prior to the camera “conversion,” with an R72.

  • Another digital near-Infrared photograph taken at Wellington Point.

  • Who travels for love finds a thousand miles not longer than one. Japanese Proverb

  • I was not going to leave the zoo without this image. The beautiful bird, I first saw the outlines of through the man planted flora, gracefully glided across the artificial pond. Its motion cut a gentle trail in the small, evening breeze caused ripples. I set an ambush at the narrow part of the pond and waited patiently. No good. The introverted animal was too edgy when passing by, and emerged in and out of the dark shadows at unpredictable intervals. This was going to be a long haul. Luckily, with the ambient light we both needed running out quickly, my desire to capture the elegant curves of this creature and its routine craving to nibble a bit before the day expired reached an uneasy, but welcomed equilibrium. I held my breath and pushed the button with my cold stiffened finger. Timeless beauty. This is not a great story, just a blurb, with a moral that outweighs its size. The ever relevant message to those who take away your freedom is to realize they will never be able to deprive you of your Dignity, your Grace.

  • Oskar was right, Civic Square comes into its own sometime around midnight.

  • The clouds … the only birds that never sleep. Victor Hugo (1802 – 1885)

  • The writing is on the wall – if you can see it, you can’t read it. I passed this sculpture so many times. You have to. It is made of stainless steel and placed in one of the busiest Wellington streets, in the perfect position to capture the colorful lights of the city after daylight, the nightglow of the capital. The ‘Invisible City’, as it’s called, is the gigantic panel of Braille text that highlights the communication gap between those who can’t see and the rest of us. The post is designed to remember all the folks, my countrymen and yours, the often invisible part of society, all those who finish schools, who work, play music, do sports, pay taxes, have and raise children, to the benefit of us all.

  • I was seldom able to see an opportunity until it had ceased to be one. Mark Twain (1835 –1910)

  • Couldn’t believe my luck, took a detour on the way to work via Petone Esplanade and low and behold! is this the mystery machine? Scooby, Scooby Doo Where are you?, this is as Kiwi iconic as it gets, 9.30 in the morning on a busy road by the sea and all the occupants are asleep! kiwi spirit, travel light, can do, next stop South Island? Look at the distortion from the wide angle lens on the rear wheel, that combi is raring to go bro! Shot on a Nikon D700, 17-35mm Nikkor Lens

  • The Battle of Waterloo occured on the 18th June 1815 and marked the end of the French domination of Europe under Napoleon Bonaparte. It was a coalition of British, Russian, Austrian and Prussians under the leadership of The Duke of Wellington. Waterloo Bay was visited on the anniversary of this battle thus the current nomenclature. This picture was taken in the pre dawn light using a very long exposure from near Little Waterloo Bay looking along this incredibly ruggard coastline towards Cape Wellington. • / “Still Life with Wellingtons” is another of my larger works that I promised to start adding to my RB gallery…just finished today, it has all the components of my favourite style of painting; lots of texture, trompe l’oeil, and a touch of surrealism in the subject matter…the shiny boots contrast nicely with the rough wood and the rusty nail….it will fit in perfectly with the Spring Fever collection, but really belongs with the Portfolio collection…the whole is totally imagined…I created the wood panel as I went along and it was such fun, I had to restrain myself from adding more knots…I found Elizabeth Bishop’s words to be truly an inspiring accompaniment to the painting”... Watercolour on Saunders Waterford Rough paper… “It was cold and windy, scarcely the day / to take a walk on that long beach / Everything was withdrawn as far as possible, / indrawn: the tide far out, the ocean shrunken, / seabirds in ones or twos. / The rackety, icy, offshore wind / numbed our faces on one side; / disrupted the formation / of a lone flight of Canada geese; / and blew back the low, inaudible rollers / in upright, steely mist.” Elizabeth Bishop, The End of March / The Sap Bucket

  • Shared joy is a double joy; shared sorrow is half a sorrow. Swedish Proverb

  • lay where you are, it’s will be so long till light / there’s nothing out there, still the bad moon rises / your story sounds like gold dust blown off a mountain top / when you wake in the first hours it’s only frost that you breathe and there’s an aching chill in here / and you panic to cling to warmth / and there’s no one left in this place / and you feel there’s nothing left to do…for you oh no what have you done..this…...time / there’s a million starts inside…your ..mind / and the air was cold that night.. / you would still feel like home you purify the good times, will you pass it round this time / there’s a pair of lonely eyes that stare into her night / why wonder what she’s wondering, it makes you forget / will the outside try to understand you if you prove yourself and there’s an aching chill in here / and you panic to cling to warmth / and there’s no one left in this place / and you feel there’s nothing left to do…for you oh no what have you done..this…...time / there’s a million starts inside…your ..mind / and the air was cold that night.. / you would still feel like home -me

  • walking for a thousands days / knowing you would never go away / there’s snow inside my eyes / but it’s warm inside my heart / the night comes like an old friend / your beauty beating in my chest / you can use my last wish now / I feel your words are speaking true now were meeting in this night / trading glances that became a story / holding breath like it could be the last / filling answers in a broken glass sitting under these quiet stars / wishing we could rise above / looking down upon ourselves / looking back against the black / you could hold a thought so true / like a secret that you never thought through / waiting for the dawn this time / we can wait here you and I now were meeting in this night / trading glances that became a story / holding breath like it could be the last / filling answers in a broken glass -me Pic-Mt Wellington

  • Shot at Point Hallswell Light on Wellington Harbour, nearly passed this one up till i saw the pink thrown by sunrise, sunrise should be in the middle of the picture just above the lowest white cloud. This is why New Zealand called Aotearoa (land of the long white cloud) there it is, laying low across the tops of the hills and down towards the Hutt Valley. What would have made this shot perfect for me would have been a splash in the foreground, I’ll just have to settle for a great sky :-) Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor Lens, ND 8 soft Grad, tripod. Raw files with Active D-Lighting on High. / The Light Catcher

  • These beautiful falls are not named, or signed. Was an accident that I even found them, getting lost is a wonderful way to find somewhere you havn’t been. At the base of Mount Wellington, Hobart, I’m sure someone knows where these are. I think the stream came from the mountain, snow melt or rain. Beautiful and fresh, and quite cool. Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Canon 50D, 10mm, 16:9 crop. Available large and definately best viewed Large!

  • Port Nicholson, Wellington NZ

  • Taken mid September, an opportunist shot on the way home, I noticed the sky colour in the rear view mirror, turned of at Petone and raced don the wharf, just got a couple of shots of before it died. View towards Wellington, very cold air seems to bring out a rich colour spectrum but only lasts for seconds. / taken on a nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor lens, 100 ISO, active D-Lighting on, processed in photomatrix and photoshop.
