The Weeping Birch is a real winner! In summer these beauties act as mini air conditioners. I’ve spent many summers resting in the cool shade under this one or the many others that feature in ‘Howells Garden’ John’s Korumburra garden paradise.

Flowers are hanging their heads with the weight of the constant rain,taller ones are bowed to the ground, Roses are hanging limp and soggy, but will lift their heads when the sun shines- but this one ,covered in raindrops is still as beautiful. /

This is a piece of sculpture by Aristide Maillol. It’s in the garden of the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena Ca. I found it fascinating how the rain had created a path of tears on her face and I so relate to the expression of her painful thought process. It was myself reflected back in art. I was out and about this morning and crossing past Veddar Mountain, when the sight of this Weeping Willow Tree stopped me dead in the middle of the tiny lane. The light poured over the hill and shone directly on the branches of this Weeping Willow. It looked to me as though the tree poured like a golden waterfall. Couldnt help but share it. / Catskill, NY
