I’ve filled it up, stripped it back, fretted, freaked out. Started again, hmm… 8 or 9 times. I decided sweet and simple was the way to go. Naturally I will be tweaking it for the next 20 Billion years but it’s a good place to start. I’m still working on private galleries for my “not bubble appropriate” stuff. For now, it’s nothing you haven’t seen already. But I’m still excited. my new website

Ok so this journal has three purposes: 1) A bit of self promotion to start with lol ! :) I finally have a “proper” website up and running, called Douzy Photography (http://www.douzyphotography.com ) 2) The good news for anyone who is looking to have a really professional looking website and is not married to a web developer (lol!) is that they can build a similar site by going to clikpic.com . They have loads of gorgeous templates that are highly cutomizable even by people who haven’t got a clue about computer stuff (e.g. me lol!). You just choose a style, upload photos, et voila! All of this for £35! 3) Anyone who wishes to have their portfolio link featured on my web site please advise and I’ll happily add it.

We’re working on some RedBubble widgets to help take your artwork and writing beyond the walls of the bubble. For those who are unfamiliar with widgets, they are little applications that sit on your website, blog, desktop, etc and provide content or functionality from somewhere else. Common examples include a Flickr Badge, Google Adsense , and GapingVoid . What makes good widgets stand out from the crowd is that they do something useful for you. This can be as simple as displaying a sample or a slideshow of your artwork, showing the local weather forecast, grabbing a daily cartoon, or helping you make money from your blog by showing advertising. But until the RedBubble widgets come along, you can easily create your own simple version. Here’s a little tutorial that helps you create a widget to display your RedBubble artwork or writing on your website or blog, all in under 5 minutes. The example below can be found here / To create your own like this, visit Widgetbox, click on “create a blidget”, and enter your RedBubble URL e.g. www.redbubble.com/people/username, and hit continue. Then in the Feed URL window, put in either “http://www.redbubble.com/people/username/works/visual.atom” (if you want to show your artwork), or “http://www.redbubble.com/people/username/works/journals.atom” (if you want to show your writing) Hit the go button, customise your widget with color, title, image, description and tags, and choose if you want it private or available to others. Click Publish Widget, and you’re nearly done! In the top right hand corner, hit the green Get Widget button, and either embed it in various sites automatically or grab the code to put it in your our website or blog. Stay tuned for a more sophisticated RedBubble widget soon. In the meantime, tell me what your favourite widget is and what it does

Good morning everyone!! Yea, it’s 6 bloody am here in Sg, but guess what?! / Frozenfa.com is officially “live” now!! YESH!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Do drop by my webbie if you wish to read up a lil more about me and the different characters i’ve made for my tees!! There’s no new design yet, but just you wait!! am now left with painting the house.. give me 1 week.. by mid Aug, i should be able to continue illustrating! i can do it!! nyaaaaaaaaanyanya!!! Oh, if you’re wondering what took me so long? Well, i actually finish designing it in June. Did the pages last month.. then got stuck with the Wall-E project.. The codings are not perfect.. am not a programmer (almost failed that module..). so i still haven’t make the codes for my enquiry page more strict.. I will be working on the Mobile Phone Wallpaper Downloads next! hope i can finish and upload it by Monday. So stay tune for that!! Ok… so I got you here on false pretenses. There is no reward except for my undying gratitude =) So if that doesn’t appeal you may as well stop reading right here! HEY! Where are you all going??? Get your arse back in here pronto! (smiles in her most charming way) I have chocolate…. ;) So I am needing to be taken firmly by the shoulders and pointed in the right direction. I want to create my own website for my art but haven’t got the FIRST clue on where to start. I know a few of you have already got your own sites and I was hoping someone might be able to provide some direction? I am crap with codes and stuff (but can usually muddle my way through) so it would need to be a relatively simply design-your-own kind of thing. I’d like any and all ideas you can give me… I like to have choices ;) Many thanks and chocolates in advance.

My sexy, handsome, helpful cook of a partner just launched a little website for fun. (Techy people do that sometimes) Basically you can purge all your deep dark secrets in a nice anonymous kind of way, and indulge in the sordid details of other people’s affairs. It’s fairly empty right now which is why we need you to think naughty thoughts. So anyway, if you’ve been up to mischief, or your conscience is starting to get to you, or you have a friend who tells you their stories and they are way better than any of yours, go give it a whirl EDIT – oh my gosh you people make me blush. I think that link above is well and truly Not Safe For Work now! P.S. Attention Writers

Rose Info & Website Resources

Central Park Rose Garden Where many of my rose photos have been taken HelpMeFind A resource in helping to identify roses All-American Rose Selections Helpful information on roses From “Gardening All-in-One for Dummies: Identifying Rose Classifications” / The following list shows you the basic differences among the various types of roses. Hybrid teas: These roses bear large flowers that commonly grow one to a long stem and bloom continually throughout the growing season. The bush can grow quite tall, with an upright habit (a term rosarians use to describe the shape or look of a plant). Hybrid tea roses are usually budded onto a vigorous rootstock, and are a great choice if you like large flowers with a pleasant rose form and if you like to make rose arrangements or have cut flowers in the house. Grandifloras: These are upright plants with hybrid tea-type flowers. The flowers often grow in clusters, but the stems on each flower within a cluster are long enough for cutting. Grandifloras normally grow to between 3 and 6 feet tall. They’re almost always budded and are a good choice if you like lots of blooms for color in the garden and stems for cutting, all on the same plant. Polyanthas: A forerunner of modern floribundas, the plant itself can be quite large, covered with small flowers. Their usual habit is compact, hardy, and generous-blooming. The variety you see most often is ‘The Fairy’ — a wonderful variety, covered with small pink flowers on a plant that can spread to several feet in height and width. Floribundas: These plants have flowers that are smaller than hybrid teas and which grow in clusters on short stems. The bush is usually quite compact and blooms continually throughout the growing season. Most floribundas are budded, but commercial growers are beginning to grow them on their own roots. Choose floribundas if you need fairly low-growing plants that produce great numbers of colorful flowers. Miniatures: Extremely popular small plants, miniatures are usually between 6 and 36 inches in height, with their leaves and flowers in perfect proportion. They customarily grow on their own roots, and aren’t budded, which makes them hardier in cold climates. Most mini varieties bloom profusely throughout the growing season and are a great choice for lots of color in a small space. You also can grow miniatures indoors in pots under a full-spectrum fluorescent light or grow light. Merely putting them on a windowsill won’t work—they won’t get enough light to thrive and blossom. Recently, the American Rose Society classified roses thought to be too large to be miniatures and too small to be floribundas as “mini-floras.” The name hasn’t yet been completely accepted by nursery workers, so these varieties are grouped as miniatures. Climbers: These plants don’t really climb like clematis or other true vines that wrap around or attach themselves to supports. They do, however, produce really long canes that need to be anchored to a fence, trellis, or other support. Otherwise, the plants sprawl on the ground. Flowers bloom along the whole length of the cane, especially if the cane is tied horizontally, such as along a fence. Some climbers bloom only once in the spring, but many modern climbers produce flowers throughout the growing season. Shrubs: Because most are quite hardy and easy to grow, and great for landscaping, shrubs have become very popular in recent years. They’re generally large plants, and most, particularly the modern shrubs, bloom profusely throughout the season. If you want to fill a large space with color, the shrub category offers a great many choices. Old garden roses: Often referred to as Antique roses, these roses were discovered or hybridized before 1867. The classification “old garden roses” is made up of many subclasses of roses, including alba, bourbon, China, hybrid perpetual, damask, and the species roses. Many old garden roses bloom only once during the growing season. Old garden rose aficionados enjoy the history and study of these lovely and often fragrant plants. Tree roses, or standards: These aren’t included among the basic categories because nearly any rose that is grafted (or budded) onto a tall trunk is a tree rose. Most often, hybrid teas, floribundas, and miniatures are used as tree roses. These plants really aren’t even trees. Most just have that lollipop tree look, as shown in Figure 1, but are only 2 to 6 feet high. They’re wonderful either in the ground or in containers but are very susceptible to winter damage, and in cold climates, you must either bury the entire plant in the ground or bring it into a cool garage.

Hi folks Well, I had a great morning of photographic endeavours planned for yesterday morning on my day off… to get up early and get a shot of the Faisaliah Tower here in Riyadh, the first skyscaper here, designed by Norman Foster and completed a few years back. All would have gone well if it hadn’t rained.. bloody typical timing for it to be the first rain since last April! Anyway, getting to the point, I am planning to photograph this building for inclusion on a website that was passed onto me by Meach and thought I would share it with you here.. the site, not the picture! The site is www.fotolibra.com and basically this is a site where publishers or researchers can come to find images and buy from the site. Like Redbubble, all images remain your own and are fully copyrighted. Whenever particular images have been requested from publishers then they will inform all members of the requirements. As a standard member you can upload up to 12 images for free or for a certain price you can have unlimited storage. Currently, there are publishers looking for some certain images of China, images of chip vans for a new Roddy Doyle book cover, images of 500 particular buildings from around the world and for all you vampire lovers they are looking for some images of young vampire slayer type girls for some more book covers. So, go check it out and sign up for full details… You gotta be in it to win it! As a footnote, and to further Stuarts comment below, I don’t ever see it as a site to pay and display a gallery of work like I have here on Redbubble. Simply to keep an eye on what is being requested by publishers.. if I have something suitable for inclusion then I will upload and if not successful, take it off the site after the deadline for that submission has passed. With space for 12 free uploads, perhaps just a gallery of my top 6 shots will allow for any random hits and also give me room for uploading any particular shots for submission when required.

Big Fat Website and moving to Melbourne

I finally found a few free moments to chisel and solder my web site into existence. It’s basically a showcase of my tee work, with a splash of portfolio work thrown in. Goodies to come: / Completion of stage 1: more examples in the Hire Me/portfolio section. A few little paranoid tweaks here and there. And, importantly, improve the SEO. Stage 2: fully integrate the Blog (at the moment it just sends folk off to my old blog). Thinking this might be a good opportunity to get into Ruby on Rails. Although I haven’t had any professional experience with it as yet, I’ve looked under its bonnet and looks like it might purr like a well-tuned Chevy if I treated it right. Plus, several Ruby addicted friends say that they want to marry it and have its children. With a recommendation like that, you can imagine that I’m looking forward to getting to know it better – at least date it a few times and see where it goes from there. Either that, or use Wordpress. Stage 3: I will turn it into a fully fledged online shopping site. Slightly off the topic …. I’m moving to Melbourne in 5 weeks – yay … umm, does anyone know of employers who need a robot-drawing, coffee-swilling, eager-beaver like me? The job I was going over for has not materialised:( However, I decided to still go and dip my toe in Melbourne waters to see if it’s warm and inviting, or bone-curlingly cold and non-receptive to small town folk like me. Hope to see you Melbourne bubblers soon:)

Just thought that since the bubblesites are so new, it might be a cool idea to show off what you’ve done so far. That way we can share ideas and inspire each other, also make suggestions, etc or ask questions. So, I know I had it in the last journal, but “here’s mine”, now show me yours!
