A spiral weather vane or wind vane made of colorful strips of cloth and sprockets, is captured in a way that creates an abstract, yet only some parts are sharp to give the viewer an idea of the object and how it works. / CONSIDER THIS IMAGE AS A COMPANION! /

Here in the western top-end of Australia another pulse storm rockets up high in the atmosphere and unleashes a torrent of rain onto those lucky few beneath it …relief from the stifling heat and humidity associated with the late build up season…Don’t wait for it to come to you though….they are not called pulse storms for no reason…and just as quickly as it forms, it disapates…not even a drop at this location with its core within several km’s…This Magnetic termite field has no doubt scored well already this season with the plain a vibrant green glowing beneath a spectacular 30seconds of sunshine. / / – for those interested, a bit more about this photograph,my thinking and feelings about it. (taken from one of my own comments) / / This photograph like so many others of mine is born from a concept I have had for many years…for me it sums up the region beautifully and is what I’d class as iconic in some ways as I am always drawn and intrigued by the integral link between climate, topography and nature – it’s a marvellous symbiotic existance of all things being…. many trips through out these type of plains wishing or visualising, but the componants never aligning left me disatisfied with the results til now… / / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2008 bubblesite / photography blog / portfolio —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / see more of my weather related photography by clicking below / /
Lightening Storms crossing Port Phillip Bay ~ Melbourne city glow on the horizon contrasting with the blue grey storm light…Quite a night of activity and finally a little rain to wet the appetite…need more, much more…!!
Another play on the dynamics of light and dark. Always something that I’ve “reflected” upon :)
Ya, thought the title pretty much summed it up! Captured a couple night ago as the sun was sinking low out at Reunion Lake on the eastern plains of Colorado. The colors were just stunning, I was pretty awe struck, it yielded quite a few really nice shots! Let me know what ya think! / —-John
Newcastle Australia has lots of good bikini weather but winter is for brave. Pump Stations for ocean baths still stand at Merewether and here at Newcastle and are being restored. Also good for surfing since the waves get up to 15feet. Don’t surf in those though, they’re dangerous. Besides there’s something familiar looking about that boat top left. As is, no post or Photoshop 400d 18-250

This torrential downpour put us off our planned sunset sail last night… lightening and metal dinghy masts are not the best combo I fear… the raindrops almost bouncing off the loch.. or stoatin’ doon as joak would say.. Not great art but a memorable night and just wish i’d got those rebounding raindrops more clearly… try viewing large.. Thanks for looking! cheers… Nikon D60 / Nikkor VR 18-200 / UV filter / f/5.6 / 1/100sec / ISO-400 / exp -0.3 / 200mm
Captured in rural Boulder County, Colorado….let me just say this was honest to God unbelievable to photograph. I had to handhold these shots because of my bum knee and well, the lightning was going crazy right above me. But I managed to get some dang nice shots off. This being one of them. I am really happy with this one, I debated about a square crop, but in the end I figured why the heck not, nothing ventured, nothing gained, right folks? I always wanted a “classic” kind of Elk shot, where one can see the steam coming out of their nose and mouth after the Bugle, with snow falling and such, and I think I finally was able to get it !
