  • This was one of the most awesome sunsets I have stood around for – way out in the interior. The tree was so arresting in silhouette and the light was pooling more and more intensely. It was actually raining slightly. / And I was getting nibbled at by turtles in the water as I clicked away over that magic hour.

  • Landscape of the Lord St. Malo outside of Estes Park, Colorado. One of thee most photographed Churches in all of North America, I was VERY excited and VERY anxious to get this shot when I headed up to Rocky Mountain National Park. I was hoping that the weather would clear because behind this, covered in the clouds, is Mt. Meeker and it is just a stunning view with the mountains! I have to admit though, I am really happy how this came out. And if anything, it is quite unique compared to how it is usually shot. I suppose that is a good thing when it comes to photographing something that is such an icon. Generally, people walk down by the pond and shoot from there, I stayed up top on the side of the road, thus giving a different perspective than most. Also, the weather. It was dramatic as all heck! You could smell the rain as it came in, dark, but with so much drama in the sky. I was pretty lucky to get a shot like this. Ya, I am happy with it! • In the warm summer night, I watched this amazing dry storm cell pass over me from the West. It looked like it was going to cross right over top of me – so I made an escape plan (run like hell!) But in the end, it turned north and head away from me – not before I captured this. • Taken a few miles east of Leicester, near Allexton. Its that time in the UK, just before the wheat gets harvested – heavy heads beginning to nod gently under the weight of the grain, and the weather unable to decide whether it is summer or not, threatening to flatten the crop, just it is ready. Leicestershire is full of distant horizons like this, and the Barley is all but in now, much of the ground already having been put under the plough in readiness for the next crop.

  • I’ve only been to Darwin once – in the summer of 1997 to visit my brother. I timed the trip to maximise storm potential though opportunities remained limited while I was there. Fortunately this storm put out some nice lightning near Darwin Airport.

  • .... I can weather any of life’s little storms. For my friends Deb and Helen, and anyone else who has been blessed to know friendship such as this in their lives.

This old abandoned place is on Route 487, a rural road near Benton, PA. Taken 10/26/09 I combined two layers – one clear and one out of focus and an airbrush eraser to create this image.

  • About This Painting / I used to travel on circuit throughout the central North Island of New Zealand, and the stretch of country from Rotorua through to Whakatane always fascinated me. Many times I managed to squeeze in a few minutes to sketch or take a photo. I never saw it looking like this – but that’s what’s called artist’s licence, isn’t it! Acrylic on canvas board 20×14in. Sold to a collector in Hamilton NZ. Thank You for the feature, RB! / About The Giclee Prints About The Framed and Matted Prints Featured in my ‘Wild New Zealand’ Calendar:* /
