Ode to weathered, faded and peeling halls Ode to heat-waves and hail and dark driven storms Ode to passers by, drunks and dogs who love walls Ode to Life.
The Maheno shipwreck is located on Fraser Island in Queensland, Australia.
3 Different storms. Some pretty amazing cloud formations out here sometimes, and i reckon i’m pretty lucky to have captured some of it. South West Queensland, Australian Outback.
Freshly fallen snow along a country road.
Black and White Winter Wonderland
PHOTOGRAPH BY: JACK ATLEY/www.jackatley.com – PIC SHOWS: This image shows Rose Kelly, a TV presenter on ‘The Weather Channel’ in Australia. This image was shot as part of a personal series entitled, ‘People affected by Weather and The Environment’. I wanted the mage to show 3 things: A striking portrait of a person affected by weather and the environment, to show Sydney’s massive afternoon thunderstorms and I wanted the image to be uniquely Australian, so I incorporated a national icon, The Sydney Harbor Bridge.
Tis the season for bad weather. This sky threatened and then moved on to create a disturbance further East. /

This is my second attempt to play with this image to try to make it more interesting. I am not a big fan of black and white myself (I seem to need some color or it seems drab and boring to me). My wife had asked me to try this image in B/W and have it blown up to matte, frame, and hang on the living room hall. She liked the B/W version a lot and admittedly, so did I. I don’t know what prompted me to try this composite of B/W and color, but this image seemed to me to be a good candidate to experiment with the concept. I “think” I like it and to my surprise, my wife’s initial impression was that she liked it very much, so we have had it matted and framed and hung in our living room.
I awoke this morning to find that the frost had visited the garden … most surfaces were covered in frost and some nearly unrecognisable !!!

This is the view that greets you as you climb out of Teesdale and look across the head of Weardale. The distance looks small. it is just the small matter of the odd steep decline, hairpin bend, sheep with tyre headbutting tendencies, lost ramblers, motorbikes with broken speed dials, cyclists with broken brakes, mobile homes pitched for a tea break and the odd strong gust of wind wanting you to join Dorothy. One this day, the wind was a tad on the strong side, OK the photographer was standing at a 38degree angle to try and hold the camera steady, but as you can see, the sun was determined to puncture the clouds and rain with the odd burst of light, through which ghosts of rainbows moved with the speed of light as the clouds chased the light from the valley in the wind. Converted into a pinhole black and white and best viewed large
