  • I finally got to paint this from my digital manipulation, Don’t Give Up Searching . I’m so pleased with the result. I used a few different textures and oil paint and made the eye brown rather then blue so that the image was unified in pallet to suit a college project so that I could paint this particular piece without abandoning duty. / UPDATE- / In 2008 this painting was STOLEN. / It was being displayed in Bentley Pines Restaurant with a group of other art from fellow students. toward the end of the year the restaurant went though refurbishments and stored the works in a disabled toilets :/ we were asked to collect the work but this painting had already gone before it could be collected. Ive contacted all the people in charge and been forwarded around like a telstra customer on hold and still haven’t gotten it back. :(

  • Inspiration for this was the song the River by Garth Brooks.. / The words will say it all.. The River lyrics / You know a dream is like a river / Ever changin’ as it flows / And a dreamer’s just a vessel / That must follow where it goes / Trying to learn from what’s behind you / And never knowing what’s in store / Makes each day a constant battle / Just to stay between the shores…and I will sail my vessel / ‘Til the river runs dry / Like a bird upon the wind / These waters are my sky / I’ll never reach my destination / If I never try / So I will sail my vessel / ‘Til the river runs dry Too many times we stand aside / And let the waters slip away / ‘Til what we put off ‘til tomorrow / Has now become today / So don’t you sit upon the shoreline / And say you’re satisfied / Choose to chance the rapids / And dare to dance the tide…yes I will sail my vessel / ‘Til the river runs dry / Like a bird upon the wind / These waters are my sky / I’ll never reach my destination / If I never try / So I will sail my vessel / ‘Til the river runs dry There’s bound to be rough waters / And I know I’ll take some falls / But with the good Lord as my captain / I can make it through them all…yes I will sail my vessel / ‘Til the river runs dry / Like a bird upon the wind / These waters are my sky / I’ll never reach my destination / If I never try / So I will sail my vessel / ‘Til the river runs dry Yes, I will sail my vessel / ‘Til the river runs dry / ‘Til the river runs dry Encaustic A4 / Tools;Hotplate, tissue, sponge, palletknife / medium, coloured waxblocks

  • pencil on paper (taken from a pad of “drawing” paper from the early 80’s) drawing Another oldie! / Ah, those big eyes I was obsessed with BACK THEN. / Well, friends tease me and say it will be considered one of my “periods”. What you can’t see is that there is a whole top layer of trees that were drawn on the black background and when you look at this from other angles, they are visible – just quietly – like a subtle varnish. This is all about different phases of life borrowing the term of growing to fullness, or “waxing” of the moon. / My name actually means: Of the moon – or lunatic – you pick which fits. hahha! (Original for sale. Email for serious queries.) / You can see it behind me in this overexposed shot from a solo show I had: /

  • I’ve had a weekend of experimenting with this theme and this is my fave of the ones I did. This is encaustic wax. Background was done on the hotplate with a roller, then the rocks were put in with the iron while it was still on the hotplate (quite like working hot-on-hot) and the rest was done off th hotplate with the stylus and micro-tip.

  • Encaustic Painting / Support: Encaustic paper / Size: 8×10 / Tools: hot plate, iron, hot air gun, stylus / Medium: wax and powder

  • And when there’s nothing left to hold on to all that remains is trust…and than someday you might discover you have wings to fly.. About a year ago a good friend made me see that drama was something for me to hold on to just to survive.. i needed it because i didn’t have the courage to step into the deepest pain that lived in my heart.. he made me understand i had to go there in order to be able to really live.. / It still took me some time but i have been able to feel that pain..the one that took control over me..all i could do was trust, to get through it without drowning.. / Lately i feel more and more of the freedom and something else is happening.. i feel stronger ..and today i feel like my wings are growing.. Featured in Healing through Art Encaustic card, tool iron. Seeds of Love

  • Losing Face The loss of credibility / Through actions of our own / Can bring shame upon us, / Behavior we claim or disown. The thunderous crash of ego, / Flashing with false integrity, / Tidal waves of self-importance / Are flooded with human debris. The loss of face can haunt us, / Limiting ones ability to transform, / Unless we work to lose the masks / That cause the ego’s shameful storm. Desire will hold the door open, / Humility welcomes us inside, / Change is always an option, / When we drop the masks of pride. Losing the face of presence / And owning a state of grace / Allows us to become our visions, / Being our truths without disgrace. / Jamie Sams Encaustic Painting / Support: Encaustic paper / Size: 8×10 / Tools: hot plate, iron, hot air gun / Medium: colored wax, clear beeswax and powder
