As is the case with many of my shots there is a considerable time gap between finding a good location for an image and shooting it. I found this spot in March 2007 on an overcast day completely unsuitable for photography. I finally returned in November 2007 to capture the shot I had envisaged all those months before. On this occassion the light surpassed my expectations with the results being worth the wait. With the number of visitors and photographers that visit not only Wilsons Promontory but Pillar Point and Squeaky Beach in particular it amazes me that I have never seen this composition before. For more shots from this area check out my Wilsons Promontory gallery. 10% of all profits go to the Wilderness Society

Here is a photo I took this evening when I went to watch the sunset with hubby and the kids, it was such a beautiful sunset tonight so I though I would share, I have a few others but I might upload them in the next few days.

This was taken at Dickey beach in QLD. The rusted remains of an old ship reminded me of dinasour bones rising out of the sand.

Antelope Canyon is the most-visited and most-photographed slot canyon in the American Southwest. It is located on Navajo land near Page, Arizona. Antelope Canyon formed over the course of millions of years by erosion of the Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to wind erosion. Rainwater (especially during monsoon season) runs into the wash that Antelope Canyon is part of, picking up speed and sand as it rushes through the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways are eroded away, making the corridors wider and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic ‘flowing’ shapes in the rock. Lower Antelope Canyon, called Hasdeztwazi, or “spiral rock arches” by the Navajo, is located a few kilometers away from the upper Antelope Canyon and is a more difficult hike. Dawn at Garie Beach, Royal National Park just south of Sydney, Australia. A seagull very obligingly flew into shot as I was taking this. Can you spot the silhouetted fishermen? / I’m lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful landscapes I’ve ever seen – it’s only a little national park (14,000 ha) but the variety of stuff to photograph is simply endlessly inspiring. Taken on the same magic morning as Light’s Flight: / /

This has all the things wrong with it…lens flare being the major problem, but it illustrates why I ended up so so wet….they sneak up when you’re looking through the viewfinder. scream up the beach at a hundred miles an hour and slap you across the back….. You can also see the way the sky changed….Dicky dawn was shot before the sun came up, and those dark clouds were behind us….they moved over quite quickly as the sun rose.
