To fully appreciate, see extra large view here Blackpool Tower shot over an angry sea. One of a sequence that has had no manipulation in colour. This is how the shot came back from the printers…....(loss of) colour due to leaving the film on the dashboard of the car in full sunlight prior to developing. Part of my 20 images that changed my portfolio set. I will always remember taking this shot, as I was caught in a Storm Force 10 on the north tip of mainland Orkney. The light was just right and as I was just getting finished I saw the makings of a huge wave out in the water. Trying to protect myself from injury I managed a sequence of 5 shots as the wave finally reached shore and crashed down on the submerged rocks. The next day when I revisited the shore much of it had been altered through the power of the waves. /
This is for Mike, one of the weather guys on the Cocos Islands. Everyday we would ask him what the forecast was, and everyday he would reply “Mostly fine, chance of a shower”! I guess this was the “chance of a shower” bit! Mike is a great guy with lots of wonderful stories from his time spent living all around Australia. I have a poem I am working on with the feeling of storms involved. I am a sucker for the experience one gets in strong weather and felt this storm the other night deserved to be observed as a vibration unto itself. So there is the Goddess and The Gods written about these amazing events and I felt my way to producing a piece that depicts them and us.
On the second day we were in Punta Cana, a storm rolled in and eventually turned the horizon black. This was taken about an hour before but the warning of wind, rain and darkness were already present in the early afternoon. They were out on the same walk She saw buildings / He saw the sky She saw shadows / He saw the shadows of birds that fly She saw a crack / He saw a crevice She saw a hole / He saw a ditch She saw the homeless / He saw the rich She saw a rock / He saw a diamond When they got home they looked into each other’s eyes, / How shall we ever agree on this life at the same time? / They said all at once / Well… / She said / We must learn to revel in our differences / Lets go against society, / Every time I see differently or you do / Lets break out the champagne and the sweet meats / Every time one sees a problem.. Lets celebrate for the other / Every time one sees a solutions lets do it again … / Celebrate / Celebrate each other.. And then we will loose track of / Perfect timing cause every moment will be just perfect!! So they made a pact and they went for walks / When she saw buildings and he saw the sky they both / Were so happy for what the other was seeing it was like they were seeing EVERYTHING ALL AT ONCE. / It was like it did not matter any more who saw what when or where; It just mattered that they were together. / And guess what? / THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER… TEE HEE / THE END Linaji 2009

My daughter was up Saturday and we decided to head to the lake, as we got to the beach, everyone was running for their cars..letting us know that the storm was coming..we thought it looked amazing so we went down to the water and watched this huge storm cloud coming in..beautiful cloud formation..lots of thunder…and wind…lightning in the distance..just nature at its best..it never rained on us, we watched it for a good 20 minutes..as we got in the van to leave the rain came down in buckets.. / Taken at Philips Park on Lake Huron between Caseville and Port Austin.. / Nikon D90 / 18-200 mm VR lens /
I love this area of the beach, so diverse, different rock formations, different water patterns, stunning soft light, sunset is just to the left. The light on this trip was so different to our last trip at Easter, this is July, the light evening and night was so even, at least 70% of my images need very little work. Just one ND filter to tone down the sky. Shot on a Nikon D700 with 17-35mm Nikkor Lens, ND 8 soft Grad, tripod with weighted bags.
