I’ve been posting some of my more serious work just lately in the form of the Neverland Collection and its been a hectic journey with all sorts of responses….mostly good but also some that have been really testing and unpleasant….. so I thought I post a few lighter things just to break up the feel of my work somewhat. This digital image goes right back to when I first started to learn how to use Photoshop in 2004 and was one of the very first manipulated images I produced. Actually there is a series of them which I made into an animated gif that was really quite charming in a naive and pretty sort of way and this is a still from that work. / The background was shot at a friends place early one frosty morning and the girl is a stock image….
Watery blue green abstract that produces an affect of calmness.

a watery sunrise over manowar bay.a wonderful start to the day.
Another in my infrared base image series. Two layers of the base image that is the infrared, multiplied in Photoshop’s layer palette blending modes. This one has an added boat, the moon, and some sun streaks shining through. I tried to swing the colour a bit more sepia on this one, just to make it interesting. ;-)

These Chunkies have been very therapeutic to create over the holidays, whilst taking a break from red bubble and having my family around. I have many more to come, and although I won’t be on RB as much, I hope to also be doing some serious painting this year…so i look forward 2009 with much anticipation …

This is another view of the Ellerburn stream that flows though Low Dalby village, in the North Yorkshire Dalby Forest. My friend Paul McGuire and I met up and decided to take some time to photograph this wonderfully beautiful stream. We had to get permission to enter the private garden of a couple living there at the edge of the village. This was one of the last series of shots I took that afternoon of this stream. This beautiful bend in the stream created a fantastic and pleasing perspective to capture. the shade and the protruding daylight created a haunting effect, only enhanced by the HDR used. As I took these last few shots, paul came over to see what I was taking, ready to move on, and our new found friend, Alfie, a beautiful but a very nosey and intrusive Mini Shetland Pony, came along with him. Alfie began nudging Paul’s camera on his back. Paul started to tell me what the pony was doing when I heard Paul yell out in shock and pain. It seems that Alfie decided to bite his bottom. I just couldn’t stop laughing. We quickly got our stuff together to go, and leave our friend to himself again. It is one experience I know that neither of us will ever forget. Perhaps Alfie won’t either. I can’t wait to see him again. :-D This is a HDR image combining 5 bracketed shots using Photomatix Pro for Macs, and adjusted using Tone Mapping and using Enhance Details. I used 3 filters: ND 8 filter, Graduated ND 7 (120) and Graduated ND 8 (121) using a Cokin filter system to allow for longer exposures to get the effect on the water. Canon EOS-1Ds Mark ll / 28-300mm IS zoom lens / f/22 / 10 sec., 5 sec., 4 sec., 3.2 sec., 2 sec. / ISO 100

views: 210 / favs: 9 My origami calendar The Loch Ness monster is one of the most famous examples of cryptozoology and has been affectionately referred to by the nickname Nessie Source: Wikipedia So back when I was doing my internship in London, that mobii decided to throw another challenge at me despite that I was busy and didn’t have time :P I also couldn’t come up with a clever idea for a long time; I don’t simply like to fold something small and snap a photo of it; I like to create a scenario. Last night in my sleep an idea occured to me and today I did some experiments with glass bottles and flashlights to create some watery effects. I was afraid I would have trouble with this as a standard camera is typically no good under dim light; but I actually didn’t spend too much time on this; and it was rather fun. Perhaps not the most dramatic but I can’t help it because I don’t have a good camera and my “studio” is very small :o) / / For me it’s more about the origami and the concept anyways. / / Nessie was folded from a 6×6mm piece of paper. This photo was taken with an Olympus FE-340, Septembre 21, 2009 – super macro mode; untouched. For a better idea of scale: / And the messy Nessie set-up: / This work has been feature in: Alphabet Soup / Alternative Process and Experimantal Photography
My latest adventure into the exciting world of photo collage and textures. I used a photo the shell sculpture at Aldeborough, two different photos of ivy, one growing on a trea trunk and one growing on a wall, both taken at Sawston Hall, a picture of seaglass pebbles, and a picture of bamboo leaves. The bubbles have been painted in. I used several of my own textures and some of these: Sirius-Sdz’s textures – these are totally fab. / Frasio’s Big Light textures.
