Kayakers inside the cave at the Gloup, Deerness, Orkney. The Gloup is a collapsed blowhole – you have to kayak through a ‘tunnel’ to get into The Gloup – and then there’s a cave at the back as well. These Chunkies have been very therapeutic to create over the holidays, whilst taking a break from red bubble and having my family around. I have many more to come, and although I won’t be on RB as much, I hope to also be doing some serious painting this year…so i look forward 2009 with much anticipation …

THE SUBJECT: / This very stylish young waterskier cuts through the water sending up a wet curtain as he lines up for the next buoy during the 2009 Australian National Waterski Titles. THE LOCATION: / Photographed at the Stoney Creek Holiday Park, Telegraph Point water skiing complex of man-made lakes, just north of Port Macquarie , NSW, Australia. THE MAKING of ‘Slalom with Style’: / Once again mostly overcast conditions with varying light made consistent exposures difficult. As part of my experimentation under these conditions and in panning waterskiiers I even tried shooting in high resolution jpg for a few frames. / Fuji S9600: Manual settings of f/7.1 @ 1/500sec, Auto focus, ISO80, Hand held. / Lightroom 1.1 & Photoshop CS3. Taken from the beach at the south end of Okanagan Lake in Penticton B.C., May 3/2009 It was a beautiful spring day with just enough of a breeze for sailing slowly along the water.
