  • Instant Art
    by fixtape

    US$25.14

Here’s yet another take on the Polaroid camera.

  • kiss the chef
    by phresha

    US$5.32–US$121.60

  • Goggles
    by Firedrake

This one needs goggles in case of high speed insects. Except sometimes they fog up / / /

  • Goldfish
    by Firedrake

    US$4.66–US$106.40

I got sick of beakfaces and lizards momentarily and decided to paint some fishies – literally, goldfish…I’ve applied patches of gold leaf to their little heads. Despite being distracted by Eurovision I managed to finish it this weekend!! This one will probably be at Brunswick St Gallery in their small works show, June 6th. About 20×20cm, watercolour, chalk pastel etc on canvas. These enlargements are bigger than life size:

  • Octopus
    by Firedrake

  • thoughts of you
    by Alyson Pearson

    US$5.49–US$125.40

I drew this a few years back when I was first experimenting with pen and watercolours. / I’ve always liked the drawing but not known what to do with it, so I’ve kept it simple and added it to the bubble!

  • People are Lost.
    by Imok

    US$3.99–US$91.20

The intension behind this piece is to evoke a feeling of child like innocence and happiness. The use of soft pink and purple watercolours is over-layed with hand drawn doodles which merge into the IMOK universe of characters. Our motto “Let’s create a world that says I’m ok…if you are?” is contradicted with the statement “people are lost”, reflecting what is going on within the world today.

  • Feel over crowded in an urban environment? How about an nice breath of fresh air? Don’t look to this planet…maybe don’t look to the future….

  • Straitjacket Fish
    by Firedrake

    US$4.66–US$106.40

You know that kiwi band, straitjacket fish? I mean, straitjeckutt fush? This creature is badly behaved. 30×30cm, watercolour, pastel, ink, metallic pen, iridescent pigments on canvas.

  • Yes, before you say it … strange! :-) As of July 2009, this painting has had 4,217 viewings and has been favourited 65 times and had 134 comments, so I guess someone out there likes it. Many thanks for your enthusiasm. To be candid though, I’ll never cease to be amazed at its reception, as I didn’t spend too much time on it and even kept it out of my portfolio for ages as I thought it was sub-standard. • Nude II
    by Melissa Mailer-Yates

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Unimaginatively titled, but this is one of a pair that I love for their simplicity. They are both painted in sepia watercolour, an unforgiving medium which means that there is no possibility of hesitation.

  • In my most recent series: ‘Face Navigation’ , I have used the fluidity of watercolour painting to express a personal perception of self and others. There is an awareness of the universal human condition through facial expression, and in some cases I create a progression of images, exploring the changing perception of a person by deconstructing facial recognition. As there is a shift over time in attitude or mood, there is a corresponding shift in visual interpretation. Sizes variable, average sizes 250×102 mm. • Spineflowers
    by Firedrake

    US$4.66–US$106.40

In the bestiary there’s also a garden. It’s walled off though, so the beasts can’t trample it! I loved painting the undulating fin shapes of this piece, so I had to do another. 15×30cm, watercolour, chalk pastel, ink, conte, iridescent pigments and copper leaf on canvas. In this one you can see the shiny copper:
