  • Snow white, the poisoned apple, colourwash and Lea. Inspired by the photography of Lynn s.k. used with her permission. / http://www.lynnsk.com This is the first watercolour piece I did of Lynn sk’s work. Watercolour.

  • The North Sea at Whitby. The Herring boats at misty dawn, / To get the details of the boats correct, I’ve used a Victorian photo as the subject. • Huge white daisies in summer. Watercolors (I use a mixture of M Graham, W&N, Daler Rowney and Schmincke) on Fabriano Artistico extra white CP 140lb paper.

  • Pure Watercolour on Arches 140lb , W/N paints. “Bearded Collie” was painted in my studio from one of my of my own photographs. I was very happy with the likeness I achieved. At first I wasn’t sure how to approach it, being a lot of white, and not wanting to get bogged down with every hair. So I tackled it by painting the darks I saw between the main fur.

  • Pure watercolour on Arches 140lb Paper. I often wander round the garden and find I am imediately inspired by the beauty of the flowers I see. ..... I try not to use any references or pre drawing, and try to capture the beauty and freshness of the flower I still have in my mind…..

  • Another beast from this series, though he’s a bit bigger: Watercolour, chalk pastel, ink & conte on canvas. / Looks cute doesn’t he? But you don’t want to pinch his cheek.

  • My watercolour painting from a 1906 photo of the Mauretania. Luxury liner (the fastest in the world until 1929). She’s being towed by steam tugs, out of the mouth of the river Tyne, and into the North Sea. Watercolour and gouache, 12” 8” / Poundworld 90lb watecolour paper /

  • Another in the Masters series. / This is the centre part of a long panoramic watercolour. By Thomas Bush Hardy, 1895. I’ve moved some of the boats to be closer together, as my version is a small painting, 10×7 inches, on rough Bockingford tinted cream paper, 140lb. I will be painting the full length seascape in the future.

  • Almost the last lilies to bloom in our garden each summer, the Casa Blancas put on a performance well worth waiting for! They are tall, lavish in their profusion, and exude a fragrance that rivals the finest perfume. They are high on my list of “keepers”! • Watercolour of the 12th century, Haddon Hall, Derbyshire. / Taken from Rinkydink’s original photo. I used lots of lifting off and negative painting, to get the tonal contrasts. I wanted to emphasize the age and wonderful textures of the old stone work – almost a thousand years old. I’ve entered this in the Just Watercolours group challenge. / I really liked the original photo colouring. For this, I needed a limited palette of just four – sienna, umber, cerulean and yellow , which I used in various dilutions and mixtures. St Petersburg watercolour pans. 12 X 8 inches 30×20 cms / Poundworld 90lb paper.
