Some curious beasts indeed! First time drawing horses…as an adult anyway. I used to draw them all the time as a kid. Not quite like this though. Watercolour, ink and chalk pastel on canvas.

Almost the last lilies to bloom in our garden each summer, the Casa Blancas put on a performance well worth waiting for! They are tall, lavish in their profusion, and exude a fragrance that rivals the finest perfume. They are high on my list of “keepers”! Another in the Masters series. / This is the centre part of a long panoramic watercolour. By Thomas Bush Hardy, 1895. I’ve moved some of the boats to be closer together, as my version is a small painting, 10×7 inches, on rough Bockingford tinted cream paper, 140lb. I will be painting the full length seascape in the future.

My version of a Thomas Bush Hardy (1842-97). From an 1895 watercolour of Ramsgate Harbour. A panoramic shaped painting, 23” x 10”. / Hand-made, 140lb rough paper. Over 20 hours work. Multiple layers of semi-transparent and opaque watercolour, and white zinc gouache for highlights. Viewing in larger size is necessary.
