Somerset was hit by flash flooding a week ago. Lots of villages in the local area experienced problems of different kinds, from roads being blocked to homes being flooded. I took this photo when out on a walk looking for Starlings. I didn’t see any Starlings but found myself standing near the river Brue which was completely overflowing into the field seen here. The water in the foreground is usually where cattle graze…

These swans were very tame, and were in the same little brook as I had taken my other photographs, shown below. It really is the most enchanting place, it runs along the foot of Arundle Castle in West Sussex, and I am told that it is where the story “The Wind in the Willows” was set. /

This is the view from a hill overlooking Trial Harbour. The beach is called Ocean beach and runs for approximately 36 kms. Early Saturday morning, the sun was filtering through the trees onto the small lake in City West Park. Floating on the still water were tiny yellow flowers of the tree Tipanu tipu – the label stated – otherwise known at Pride of Bolivia. A very peaceful scene with only the ducks and myself in the park.
