Angkor Wat at sunrise, Cambodia / Colour digital image
This is the same photo of the buddha in the tree from Wat Mahathat in Ayutthaya Thailand but some people prefer it with more vignetting :O) You can check out the original in my art section…
The great thing about this photo is that you can go for the natural http://www.redbubble.com/people/khosie/art/133430-enlightenment or the souped up view that is here.. If I was an up myself photographer I would say the image was completely intentional… ;op Because I can’t lie to save myself…. :o) Here are the facts. I have had Photoshop for 2 days. I have had a 20 minute lesson in photoshop and I bought a magazine that gave some tips on photoshop. (And not right may I suggest… can’t believe I am a novice and I worked out that they hadn’t given the right instructions!!) So yes, for all you gurus out there you will have a good giggle. For all the novices, you will understand my joy at turning out this pic!! Ayutthaya… as per the other pics in my portfolio… can categorically say I am not re-inventing the wheel here… saw something similar like this on a postcard and loved it! So grab the kindness in your soul and please feel free to mockingly praise my naive enjoyment of having managed to do something in Photoshop!!! Sometimes photography is about ego… this time it’s just about feeling bloody pleased that I got past File… Open!!!

A giant Buddha in a wat in the northeastern Thai village of Mae Sot
This image was actually taken by lovely wife. We went to Angkor Wat about six years back and I had bought a digital camera for her birthday. Little did I know she would become so enthusiastic about photography. She has had work published and we have exhibited together several times. Now, she is arranging her own exhibition for later this year. Me, I’m pleased as punch to have a partner who shares my photographic passion.
I took this of the 2 monks chatting at Ankor Wat in Cambodia in 2006. This is exactly how i took this picture, there’s been no photoshopping or cropping. This is a 10×15” limited edition print with only 10 to be done in this format, there are only 6 left as 3 have been sold and 1 is the number 1 copy, which will be sold in the future. There’s a special little secret in this pic if you look closely, by the right hand monk’s right foot. Enjoy!
There is a story to many of my images and this one is no exception. I was walking around Wat Suthet which is at the base of the ‘Golden Mount’ in Bangkok. I noticed a group of monks going into the temple and decided to see why. When I got to the door I saw many monks sitting inside. I was quite excited as this type of image I had wanted to get for a long time. Quietly, I set myself up to capture the image. My camera has a silent shutter and I squeezed the button and then, with a big grin on my face, turned to leave. Whilst I had noticed the scaffolding surrounding the temple, I had forgotten all about it as I was taking the image. The crossbar of the scaffolding just outside the door was at forehead height and, you guessed it, bang. As the blow was quite painful a, relatively, loud expletive escaped my lips. I gathered my composure, dared not look back and carefully slipped away. Featured in Art In Asia – 27th October, 2009

Wat Po ~ Bangkok – Thailand. Thailands largest reclining bhudda. His feet some 45 feet away are inlaid with mother of pearl. Thanks for looking Featured in the Exotic Thailand Group
This is one of those things that words cannot begin to describe. This particular Buddha statue is located at Wat Pho in Bangkok, Thailand. This imposing Buddha is 50 feet high and 150 feet long and made from brick and plaster and gilded in gold. The reclining pose represents the Buddha’s passage into nirvana. His feet are of mother of pearl inlays with 108 vignettes representing the 108 auspicious signs for recognizing buddha.
STRAIGHT OUT OF THE CAMERA / The Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha) is regarded as the most sacred Buddhist temple (wat) in Thailand. It is located in the historic center of Bangkok (district Phra Nakhon), within the grounds of the Grand Palace. / The construction of the temple started when King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke (Rama I) moved the capital from Thonburi to Bangkok in 1785. Unlike other temples it does not contain living quarters for monks; rather, it has only the highly decorated holy buildings, statues, and pagodas. The main building is the central ubosoth, which houses the Emerald Buddha. /
Taken at Wat Rakhang in Bangkok, Thailand. This temple is a little more obscure in terms of tourist attractions but what attracted me to it was the fact that it apparently had a nice collection of bells. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the temple itself was surrounded by these small chimes that rang with the waving of the wind. Even more pleasantly surprised was I when I realized that there was a class being held in the temple. What caught my eye was the traditional tattoo on the younger monks shoulder. Angkor Wat in Cambodia is a magical place. Although I had to get up very very early to shoot this, it was worth every minute. It is always inconvenient to carry a tripod when backpacking but scenes like this remind you how important it is to bring one along.
What to me still stands as the living empire of Cambodia , the Angkor Wat complex is a trully magical world.
This was taken at Wat Phnom in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on the last day of Khmer New Year. The wat was abuzz with activity that day. She was with a number of people (probably family) and she quickly poked her head out of the main sanctuary to fan out the joss sticks that she had just lit. She then proceeded to separate them out to the people that were with her and they continued to the many shrines on the surrounding the main sanctuary. I last saw them leaving a few joss sticks at the shrine of Madame Penh and then pouring water on their heads as a sign of cleansing.
