The giant Clakkerpod transport pod emerges from the sand sea, on the wastelands of Zargor. Timing devices ensure that thousands of others arise simulataneously and start to move steadily towards the rendevous, at the wall…
Took a different approach for the photoshpcreative07 competition and decided to reverse the concept. Here a lone survivor condemned to a future of infinite chaos manages to escape back into a alternate past of infinite possibility. This could be a physical escape or projected from within the travellers mind; an internal escape to fantasy, much like the ending of Brazil. Have since sold the image for use on the cover of the Griffith Review – yay.

The amorphous blobs moaned softly as they heaved themselves over the wastelands. Grimacing in pain, their jelly bodies distorted like soggy washing twisting helplessly in a relentless cycle. The effort required, as they tried to cross the hellish surface, to reach the floaters, was enormous. They had limited time before the nutrient rich red fruit would sink again, beneath the wasted poisoned surface. The next flowering was too far off, they had to reach them. The beacon, set up aeons ago, still pulsed out its call, searching the heavens for help. Global warming indeed. They had laughed at the notion. Scientists scoffed and politicians were mandated to keep the “train” rolling along. They partied on until… too little, too late and system collapse. The delicate biosphere could not sustain life, in the way it had for millennia, and only the luckiest sentient beings had managed, with a little genetic tinkering, to preserve life. People and jellyfish. Who would have thought it possible? Death would have been preferable, thought Gelatinous, the leader of their little band, as even now he sensed that the floaters had reached their zenith… Wasteland Walkers
Panic attacks are unexpected, isolated periods of intense anxiety, fear and distress that are associated with a range of somatic and cognitive symptoms. The onset of these episodes is usually sudden, and may have no apparent start. Although these episodes may appear accidental, they are considered to be a subset of an evolutionary comeback commonly referred to as fight or flight that happen out of context, flooding the body with hormones as particularly adrenalin, that aid in defending itself from harm. The panic attack is different from other forms of anxiety by its concentration and its unexpected, episodic nature. / Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is the term for an acute and continuing emotional reaction to an excessive psychological trauma. The latter may involve someone’s real death or a threat to the patient’s or someone else’s life, serious physical injury, or threat to physical and/or psychological uprightness. It is important to make a difference between PTSD and Traumatic stress, which is an alike condition, but of less intensity and length. Hysteria was also related to “traumatic reminiscences” a century ago. At that time, Sigmund Freud’s pupil, Kardiner, was the first to portray what later became known as symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Stress is often defined as the reaction to a situation that threatens the balance or homeostasis of a system.
