  • Taken with a Minolta 5xi on Fuji film. Suburban Venice! / No tourists, just signs of lives being lived.

  • Digital abstract painting over ink washes.

  • This is from a series of Laundrettes around Melbourne (Australia). I wanted to look at, and document these places. They are slowly but surely disappearing, being renovated or re-developed into bars cafes etc. I am also interested in these spaces as they are one of the few areas where it is acceptable to be by ones self…no ones eyes are raised by someone sitting alone in a laundrette, as they can be when in a restaurant. There is also no expectation to engage fellow “washers” in conversation. The laundrette can be a place of solitude.

  • A pen and wash I did in Durham more years ago than I care to remember! / (1984 actually !) / It depicts the cathedral sat on top of the hill and one of the bridges over the River Wear.

  • Watercolour on paper. / Nude female swathed in fabric and sunlight.

  • New technique, oil paint. Hope you like as I really enjoyed doing this one. 66cm x 64cm. Extensive Folio Viewing / ”Caroline Ellis Web Site More works: / http://www.redbubble.com/people/carolineellis/art/865489-1-scribble-gum

  • This dry clay wash was found in Badlands National Park in South Dakota, USA. I was absolutely fascinated with the abstract quality of the dry clay in a stream bed at the foot of fossil filled hoodoos. / Featured at “Textures” – January 25, 2009.

  • Some baby’s breath in front of my window… Enjoy!

  • A dawn shot from the East Beach at Lossiemouth, Moray, Scotland. The Bin of Cullen, which is further down the East coast, can be seen in the distance. Just a beautiful morning. Nikon D80 / 1/8s at f22.0 / ISO 100 / 18.0-70.0mm f/3.5-4.5 at 18mm / 0.9 ND soft Grad. / 0.6 ND soft Grad. / tripod / manual release

  • The sheet caught the light and dominated this shot so I have fiddled quite a bit to try and subdue the blow-out. Hope it worked. This particular piece of machinery holds unpleasant memories for me – my finger was squashed between rollers (dumb kids playing where they shouldn’t!!!) – tough lesson learned! • The unrelenting power of the sea washes over a rock ledge and creates its own coastal falls, taken at the Nobbies ,Phillip Island, Victoria ,Australia Canon 450d / Shutter 1/3 / Ap F/22 / ISO 100 / Focal L 187mm / Manual WB

  • Taken at the Apprentice House at Quarry Bank Mill Cheshire This lovely collection of metal tubs, mangles just caught my eye. They sat just in a out house in the coutyard of the Apprentice house at the back of the kitchen. The Apprentice house was where the children that worked in the Cottom mill lived and where cared for. How long would my washing pile take to do today in those tubs and then wrung out with the mangle, I dread to think, a time before twin tubs and now the latest high tech washing machines we have today. Nikon D90 and 18-105vr Nikor Lens Focal length 18mm / F/. 6.3 / Exposure 1/160 sec and -1 step / ISO 1600 Very grey day and drizzle, poor light, Hand held and setting P / Processed in Nikon Efex Pro 3 in tonal contrast to bring out the metal detail more.

  • House Gymnastics empowers the banal domestic setting with new meaning and excitement. When someone performs House Gym they become the artist making the art, creating ephemeral human sculptures that last for only 3 seconds. Viewers can submit photos, enter the Move of Month competition and take on physical challenges such as The 25th Element and The 10 Commandments. www.housegymnastics.com

  • Sometimes the most simple photo is pleasing to the eye, these rain drops hanging from a nylon washing line in my back garden are simple and easy to take but for me are wondeful and uncluttered… simple Nikon D200 ISO 100 1/350 f4. 60mm focal length Macro Lense
