Childers Cove, Bay of Islands Reserve, South West Victoria. Volunteers at Childers Cove recovered an anchor from the barque ‘Children’, wrecked in 1839 , with the loss of 16 lives. Late in 1951 shifting sands exposed skeletons generally accepted as relics from the disaster. In 1963 a signal cannon was also recovered. Re-uploaded, didn’t realise I could simply edit the image and uplaod the new one, my bad :(

One of Jan Juc’s A grade crews had to stop rowing shortly after the start when sweep Jon Ward was hit hard in the chest with his oar. At the time of writing it was believed Jon had suffered several broken ribs.

Boat crews mourn the dead in the Black Saturday fires north and west of Melbourne and salute those who fought the fires. All on the Lorne beach observed a minute’s silence.

Jan Juc SLSC’s Scott Tannahill rejoices as he sweeps the senior Pentarch crew to victory in the open section of the Victorian State titles on 1 March. Lorne Alistair (out of picture) was second, Jan Juc V/Idiots were third followd by Lorne Daniel, Torquay and Fairhaven.

Australian Fur Seal – Taking refuge underneath the / Breakwater pier in Warrnambool July 09 – We beleive this seal was sick suffering from ingesting fishermens hooks. It constantly was rolling its head around as if in pain. Lucky these days, hooks and fishing line can be bought where it can break down after some time. Somthing to think about and highly reccomend it if you can get it. There are now all sorts of biodegradeable lures, hooks and lines that break down in less than five years as opposed to 600 years with nylon filaments. Sometimes though, the damage has already been done.

Situated on Lady Bay. This hut is to be pulled down and made way for a new one. Yesterday as my friend tells me, a humpback and her calf were frolicking out the front. This image was shot in colour and converted in PS. The levels were played around with to get the old look as they wanted. Thanks for looking :)) Sal

This is a great example of a staccato cloud to ground lightning strike (in this case cloud to sea). Staccato cloud-to-ground lightning is perhaps the most photogenic of all lightning. It is termed “staccato” because the lightning is comprised of just one single, rapid discharge and is typically accompanied by a myriad of interesting and intricate branching.
