This won the first place in the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP – NJ) annual Fine Art Photograpahy Competition. On the cover Compilation of two images. The deformed head was done with a parabolic mirror.
A picture of part of a ward in an abandoned mental asylum. I think this picture is given an extra spooky edge and a bit of a story by the fact that one of the beds has a pair of shoes sitting waiting at the bottom as if the occupant may be back any minute.

The colors last fall seemed incredibly beautiful to me. Maybe part of my experience had to do with that it was my first fall with my new Nikon D80. A friend joined me early one morning for a drive up to Brainard Lake Recreation Area, near Ward, Colorado. We walked up to Long Lake and hiked around the lake. / A small crop done, to get rid of a shadow from a bridge, and a few dead pixels cloned out. Otherwise, exactly as it came out of the camera. / Nikon D80, with 18-135 mm Nikon lens / f/25, 1/5 sec, ISO 100, focal length 28 mm

Watercolor painting on 15×20 “Montval” cold press 140 LB Paper. This wonderful shed is on the lake side of my good friends home. Her husband put the sign in the window many, many years ago and although the shed has seen better days, the sign remains. Tom, my friends husband, has been gone for at least 9 years now. So hard to believe. But we will never forget him and his sense of humor. I was glad to have been able to paint the Mental Ward, while it was still in wonderful condition.
This is a graphite on vellum pencil drawing.
Taken at the abandoned Morisset Psychiatric Hospital for the Criminally Insane which was built in the early 1900’s and close in 2002.
BYGONE ERA IMAGE COLLECTION Image of a covered wagon at the Zion Mountain Ranch, which is the closest lodging to the east entrance of Zion National Park. The mountains you see in the background are in the Indian Peaks Wilderness area in Colorado. This was taken close to Long Lake, late September 2008. The colors were stunning. No wind, almost a clear blue sky, and just an incredibly beautiful morning. / Nikon D80, 18-135 mm lens / f/25, 1/10 sec, ISO 100, focal length 35 mm
This is Lithadora, Grace Ward, such a lovely blue floral cascade! I love the small cheerful flowers and they make a nice addition to other contrasting bright colors that you add to a planter.
This work is in acrylic on canvass. Psalm 56:8 / “You have collected all my tears in your bottle.” I choose one of my poems to accompany it. Sarah’s Song Hollow skeleton, empty arms, / Cold pillow by my head; / Hot my face, – wet my tears, speak / Groanings deep from love-wrenched soul; / Pounding heart and anguished grimace; / Hope abandoned leaves love’s torture. Fourteen years my soul has wrestled, / Watched another take my place, / Give him what my soul does long to, / Fill his comfort, soothe his needs, / Even given what I cannot; / His son suckled at her breast. What was that? Someone believes it? / He said I would have my joy? / Can I hope when hope has faltered; / Can I give what died in me? / Furrowed brow and trembling torso; / Can I offer heart and soul? Faith takes over where hope faltered. / I believe, now let it be. / Once again I’ll hold him to me. / Each our wells pour passion’s torrent / Flowing deep until, all given, / Lie we one, both soul and body. From this spring comes laughter reigning. / Life from death brings life again. / Warmth and softness snuggle to me, / Fingers warm his tiny grip. / Here I hold what could not happen, / Son of Laughter at my breast. Can I hope when hope has faltered? / Can I give what died in me? / Furrowed brow and trembling torso; / Can I offer heart and soul?

This is the deserted ward in one of the blocks of an abandoned hospital in Scotland. All that remains now are a few lights around the side, a few curtain rails and a discarded phone directory.
