Another shot from an exposed tree due to the drought and low water level at the Hume Weir. Someone that viewed my image said that the swoosh of clouds and the tree reminded themof a magic wand.
Photograph of an icicle in the sun. It was a clear blue day and so with a little warmth and shadow, it came out pretty colorful….anyhoo :) I love the little angel thingy…what do you call it ? /

Does the contrast in this look ok…or is it too much?? Thanks for your help!! :)
Visit model: The Yellow version of this is my most popular image, and people always ask things like “did she change her wig“ So I thought I’d post what it looks like without color manipulation. Watercolor and pencil on illustration board, / 15×20 / 2009 Related work: / The Waterman: Unio Mystica This is the second panel of The Waterman triptych. While the central panel represents the Christ as the macrocosm, the side panels are the microcosm, represented by the Four Elements and their manifestation in the physical world. Ignis Aeris is the yang pillar, the elements Fire and Air. Volatile and oriented upward, these elements are connected to the realms of the abstract thinking and intuition. Fire is the energy, passion and primeval instincts, that need to be balanced by the intellect (Air) in order to manifest in a most constructive way. The certainty of the Divine, that comes from the heart and from a primal knowledge, needs to be shaped by the intellect in order to become less aggressive and to expand (the butterflies rising from the fire and flying upward). Only through a perfect combination of faith and reason we can access the Divine and understand Its Laws. At the basis of the picture, handling the creative power of Fire, we see the Magician of the Tarot, which I represented wearing the skin of Nemean Lion, just like Greek hero Herakles. He represents the first step in the Hero’s Journey, or that path that each one of us need to find out and go through in order to become Whole with the Universe. The Magician is the one who uses his power of will (Fire) and mental skills (Air) in order to find his own path.

Original watercolor and inkline depiction of “The Queen of Wands” tarot card designed for an Art Nouveau deck. I designed this piece as part of a proposal for an all-female tarot card deck to be depicted in an art nouveau style. I also wanted the women to have different ethnicities depending on suit and for the deck to combine astrological (signs) and wiccan (elements, Four Directions, seasons) components into each card in a meaningful way. I see Wands as a Fire suit, with a Southern direction, situated at noon during a blazing summer. Wands signify the spark of creativity, energy and growth, and I wanted my Queen of Wands to be truly regal and somewhat fierce. Believe me, I had no idea when I painted her that she would end up looking so much like our First Lady! She says, “I Am”, “I Will” and “I Know”. I envisioned all the women in the Wands suit as being African, and this Queen is seated in her throne with her sunflower amidst the most creative of endeavors ever: the pyramids. Her wand is carved with the zodiac symbols Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. All wands are depicted in hot colors and earth tones. This original artwork is copyright Ramona Szczerba 2006. I added elements and zoomed in – which do you prefer? / :)
Sometimes rainbows need a little maintenance. I imagine this kind of place, where bits and pieces of broken and tired rainbows would be shined and buffed and hammered back together, and put back into the sky. EXPERIMENT!!!! / Wooooohooooooo!!! My first time using the “magic wand” tool! Never even touched it before today, because it seemed too powerful…lol. So I found a book about it and jumped in. I like this. It started out as a twinkly shot of the stem of a glass (that I plan to use for something else). But for now it’s looking like the Rainbow Repair Shop! Well, it does to me. Anyway, the little Magic Wand IS very powerful. Yoweee! I plan to work more with it and learn its secrets!!!! / / / /
