A lone diner at an exclusive restaurant, captured on New York’s Central Park South. Nominated by the brilliant and gracious photographer Nick Board for Red Bubble’s Pay It Forward Group, who wrote, “Judith chronicles brilliantly, the life and times of New York City, mainly in Black and White, but my absolute favourite has to be, “Reservation for One”. In my eyes this is a masterpiece, trully evocative, and to me, captures isolation in the big city, just as memorably as Hopper did in the “jazz age”.“ Featured / Pay It Forward TWICE A HOME PAGE FEATURE SOLD Copyright

Stand & Deliver Mixed Media, lots of layers and textures. / Moll Cutpurse is the only highway women I’ve found any reference to although I’m sure there were more…probably too smart to get caught;) Moll Cutpurse’s real name was Mary Firth, a bit of a tomboy, always ready for a rumble and happiest in the company of men. / Sources on her history are a little conflicting but she was a bit of a roguette and after pulling a big job on a Lord, brided her way of goal and the business finding it safer to work as a fence…..a fascinating character from the early 1600’s. Von kindly posted this wonderfully fitting poem / The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees, / The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas, / The road was a ribbon of moonlight, over the purple moor, / And the highwayman came riding- / Riding-riding- Sales to date: 2 / Available as a framed print, matted print, poster and card. Thank you to Marcus Ranum for the beautiful model. Nala kindly bmailed more info on Moll Cutpurse for history buffs

I Am I am calling to you from afar; / Calling to you since the very beginning of days. / Calling to you across millennia, / For aeons of time- / Calling-calling. Since always. It is part of your being, my voice, / But it comes to you faintly and you only hear it sometimes; / “I don’t know,” you may say. / But somewhere you know. / “I can’t hear,” you say, “what is it and where?” / But somewhere you hear, and deep down you know. / For I am that in you which has been always; / I am that in you which will never end. Even if you say, “Who is calling?” / Even if you think, “Who is that?” / Where will you run? Just tell me. / Can you run away from yourself? For I am the Only One for you; / There is no other, / Your Promise, your Reward am I alone- / Your Punishment, your longing / And your Goal. / -Anonymous Image copyright © 2009 Shanina Conway. / Copying and displaying or redistribution of this image without permission from the artist is strictly prohibited

/ / / original pencil drawing ...stayed up very late drawing “Nature’s Child”... you know when it’s time for a baby to be born, i think it’s very similar with art… the inspiration just comes when it’s ready…and sometimes that means drawing til 3am like i did with this one. ...the drawing took about 3 hours, and the digital colouring took about 5 hours today. ...inspired by some fantastic eyes i’ve seen lately, (drawn by people on RB) and the dear little willy wagtails…they are so cheeky…they aren’t authentic in colour here, because they are always black and white with little markings above the eye…but i have put their essence into the work hopefully. I think this is my favourite so far :) /

/ / / / Original pencil drawing “Topiary Teapot” About the Art / A pencil drawing coloured digitally, an elegant geisha enjoys the simple pleasure of her garden. The teapot topiary is also a fountain, you can see water pouring out of the spout and a sprinkler at the tippy top.. :) Inspiration / The inspiration came through my parents, who have a topiary teapot and a topiary sugar bowl in their own backyard, the also told me of an amazing topiary garden they visited in Tassie recently. / / Here is the “teapot topiary” in my parents’ backyard, they are sculpting teapots and sugar bowls….there are lots of fun things in my mum and dad’s garden !! Even the Cheshire Cat and Tinman have a spot in the sun there :)
Steer II (Missy Higgins) / / Pencil drawing, digital colouring The Golden Elephant – story and art by Karin Taylor / A long long time ago in a tropical land where the papaya grow wild and free, there lived a golden elephant who’s beauty was unsurpassed. All the creatures were mesmerised by what appeared to be the sun entering the water when she swam and when she walked on the land everyone stepped aside, as elephants were revered. Legend has it, the golden elephant was once a beautiful warrior princess. Once, in midst of of a terrible battle with her enemy about to take her life, she made a wish that she could become an elephant, for then no harm would come to her. The beautiful warrior princess was granted her wish, tho could sadly not return to her human form, and so it was that the golden elephant lived forever, bringing warmth and light wherever she went. During the darkest nights when the stars hid and the moon disappeared, the beautiful golden elephant shone like the sun, lighting the way for pilgrims on their journey. Although very happy she got what she wished for, the golden elephant found herself still thinking the grass was sometimes greener on the other side. Indeed she would have liked to be human again. But she accepted her new role and did the best she could with her gift of light.
