Spotted some horses in a field on the way to work yesterday, the sun was just coming through the mist, had to go turn round and go back to have a look and came away with a couple of nice shots. There was a thick frost on the ground, real crisp winter morning Thanks to Richard Shepherd for the title.
This was taken up at Hadrian’s Wall in Northumberland UK – this is a photographer battling against the wind – you have no idea how cold it was that day :)
Sorry just couldn’t think what to call this image.

We never thought this day would come, / But it’s finally here at last, What once was our bright future, / Is now are dim-lit past, But we hold onto the memories, / The lessons that we learned, The pathways we have traveled down, / The corners that we turned, And soon we say our sad goodbyes, / That will last us forever, We may see each other again, / Maybe once or maybe never, So make your goodbyes ones to remember, / The kind that will stay in their heads, Those are the goodbyes they will treasure, / The ones that were sad to be said.

I stood in the snow behind the tripod, so quietly that one bird landed on my lens! What joy. I couldn’t actually say we bonded, but I was thrilled. I’ve had birds land on my hat, but never one that I could see so closely. Featured in Alaska ~ Beyond Your Dreams – Thank you! Shot in RAW. Slight curves adjustment, at the suggestion of Eivor. The snowfall made it necessary to bump up the ISO to 320. I tried ISO 640 at one point, but those looked a tad grainy. This is a male Common Redpoll in today’s snowfall. Note snowflake on his back. Our area has so far eluded Mt. Redoubt’s harsh volcanic particles, although Alaska Airlines and FedEx had to suspend all flights in and out yesterday. A digital photo-manipulation of a photograph I took at the Kooragang Wetland Centre on Sunday. The images were captured using a 6 MP Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S500 and the processing was completed using Photoshop Elements 7. Their Communications / Publicity Officer, Sue, had sadly passed away about a year ago and they held a commemoration service to celebrate her life and her fantastic attitude to both people and the environment. It was a very nice, sunny day and everyone in attendance paid their respects to a wonderful person who will be missed. / Featured in – That One Great Shot group on Saturday 15/8/2009 Thanks to Jane and Allan for choosing my image to be featured ! :-)

winter with a magic of its own original beach photo original tree photo taken at a different location
I have created this for the Winter Whimsy Challenge which is in the enchanting Animal Fantasy and Whimsy Group. The challenge called for a creative portrayal of animals in the winter. I have so enjoyed creating this one. Whenever I make composites of animals it always makes me smile and feel incredibly happy. I chose the polar bears because I thought it would be fun to try and develop an image using largely white as the dominant colour (and I also thought that we would be seeing a great many reindeers in the coming month!) The image was created totally in Photoshop CS4. The background was my own photo. I am grateful to the artists who made the bears available. / Bears / Bears The beautiful music is Hayley Westenra singing Winter’s Dream ! / MCN :: CNNST-QBFU5-UBQCL
