On a certain river bank / Where my love loves walking / I cannot but be frank: / The photographer went stalking. And there from behind a wall / I saw my love appear: / He was so fine, so slim, so tall / As he approached the pier. He stopped, looked at the time, / My heart cried “I am here, / My dear, darling, love sublime…” / Till I saw her draw near. She paused. They smiled. I froze. On a certain river bank / Where my love loves walking / He found himself another rose / And I gave up stalking. (c) Cornelia Togea This partcular river bank is from Genva. A beautiful city.

I thought the contrast was a little harsh on the original version of this work, so I’ve softened the colour by adjusting the balance, and I’ve also added photographic filters. This image was taken early this year while walking along Markeaton Canal. Hope you like the updated version! Thanks, Jen :-) Photography and editing by Jennifer Woodward © 2008
“Winter Walk” is also part of the Series “The Trees”, and is a reflection of Canadian winter in Ontario… Watercolour on Arches Paper…. “There is nothing here except the constant, looping clicks and caws of birds, lost in trees erased by white. / My sight condensed by each fresh, foggy breath, a hanging depth my head sinks through. / Nothing here but mulching steps, the soft snap of twigs long soaking, the sticky sound of car tire on wet road. / I am drenched by a sudden gang-up of water, a brief yawn of thunder far away. / There is nothing here and I am all wet.” ….John Goss. “Fog” / /

I really cannot remember when we had a White Christmas here in our part of the Netherlands for the last time. They say it was in 1981. These days it seems that we make a chance this year once again. The mid-December period of cold weather which normally ends here just a few days before Christmas, has been of extraordinary severity this time, bringing quite a bit of snow too. Will it last until Friday? The weather forecasters are still in two minds about it, but indeed the prospect seems to be reasonably positive. And not to forget: I wish you all a very happy Christmas and all the very best for the New Year. And ever so many thanks for your good wishes. Once again this shot was taken in the forests near Lage Vuursche. In their winter habit the long beech-trees lanes once again show their special beauty. / / Near Lage Vuursche, 18th December 2009, 12.25 am / Nikon D80, Nikkor 18-200 mm at 70 mm / F 9, 1/80, ISO 200
Taken with a Canon 50D, Sigma 10-20 lens at 11mm, F11, shutter speed 1/200 second, ISO200, processed in Photoshop Another shot from our trip to Conistone (Yorkshire Dales) yesterday, we had just come through the gate in the shot which took some opening with over a foot of snow behind it, we were the first people to venture up this path after the recent heavy snowfalls which was kind of fun. In the distance you can see the snow covered hills in the area. Please view large
