Themeda triandra, wedderburn dec09. An essential food source for a whole suite of animals, kangaroo grass currently receives a hiding from macropod grazing by kangaroos and walibies throughout south-eastern Australia. These animals have bred up in enormous numbers as improved pastures and farm dams have made their world a world of plenty. With the themeda under constant attack, birds like the diamond firetail and hooded robin are retreating and disappearing from the landscape.
