Heading up the lake from Lumsden towards Queenstown
The southern tip of Lake Wakatipu,South Island, New Zealand.
A place you’d want to call home. Where you can wake up to this every morning, watch the activity from your wicker chair on your balcony, lit up by the warmth of the morning sun and ponder the thought of your favourite novel on the deck of your boat anchored nearby….
Otago NZ / One of my favorite places – and I love the photo despite the vignetting.
The Kingston Flyer was originally for the express passenger train which ran between Kingston, Gore and Invercargill and sometimes Dunedin. The service started in the 1890s, but the Kingston part ceased in 1937. In 1971, the New Zealand Railways Department decided to operate the Kingston Flyer as a heritage service. Until the rails were damaged by floods, it ran between Kingston and Invercargill. In 1982 the Flyer returned to Kingston. The Kingston Flyer runs with its wooden carriages seven months of the year from 1 October to 30 April, two tourist trains daily, with the exception of Christmas Day. This photo was taken at Kingston Station on the banks of Lake Wakatipu

This is Sunrise over The Remarkables range in Queenstown, New Zealand. Initially it looked as car comming up the mountain. I have a shot with a Sun pocking out but prefer this one. Only basic treatment in Lightroom. Captured with Nikon D300, 18-200 Nikkor lens with 18 mm focal length. This is a view from Peninsula Hill on Wakatipu Lake, Queenstown, Otago New Zealand. The water colour is affected by glaciers residue. / It was beautiful view, majestic mountains, small clouds and the colour of the water matching almost the colour of the sky. I couldn’t resist the temptation to freeze that moment in the time ;) / Captured with Nikon D300 Featured in Lakes and Inland Waterways group 10/07/2009

Majestic Remarkables Mountains on the southern edge of Lake Wakatipu near Queenstown in the Central Otago district of South Island (NZ) during autumn, awaiting for winter to cover its bare peak with snow. According to Maori legends Lake Wakatipu was formed when a giant sank into the ground forming a giant crater that was later filled with water. ‘Waka’ in local Maori tongue means ‘trough’ and ‘Tipu (or Tipua) means enchanted being, or a giant in this case. Shot from Bob’s Peak (Skyline Gondola) in Wakatipu Heights.
