Storm watching during winter months captures your breath as crashing waves pound the rocky beaches and send water shooting into the sky…...sitting on the beach and waiting to no endless sunset evening is spectacualar experience…..the coast of Oregon is every photographer dream…..When they say dreamland this sure is one…I take dangerous edges and lenghtly times of waiting to bring out the best of the nature….This is not everyday of the road scene….It takes courage, time and at the time can be very expensive to bring out the best….Enjoy my work once again….and thank you for any coment i might receive on my photography….... / / SINGHRAY FILTER Graduated ND filter 1 F-stop hard grad…. I was visiting with my aunt and uncle, the family gathered, waiting to attend funeral services for a beloved uncle that has passed away. The night before we did our best to enjoy each other’s company and joke around like we usually do, but mostly we were just trying to get through the night so we could say our goodbyes in the morning. I saw these antique children’s chairs that my aunt had and decided to spend some time taking photos of them to get my mind off of things. I brought the chair out to the garage so that the smooth, rich wood would be in stark contrast to the rough, stained concrete floor. A running theme throughout my photography is viewing objects from new perspectives, so as I stood on a ladder that I found and tried taking photographs without falling, my uncle walked by and laughed at me. “You’re taking a picture of a chair?” he said. I told him “You just wait – this will be a masterpiece!” but I am pretty sure he didn’t believe me. The photograph turned out exactly the way I had envisoned, a sense of being in a room but high above it like an omnipotent source, alone, expecting someone to be there who isn’t, a bit of a faded memory. This fine art piece hangs on my own wall, and I smile when I see it for it is a reminder of the family I love.

  • Another from the pine forest in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, Sunday 20 April. With the picturesque shack, lichen covered pine trees, red mushrooms, and then the mist rolling in, I was torn in so many directions – in the end I made an attempt to get all elements in the one shot! / / Margo has kindly provided me with the following info on the red mushrooms – glad I didn’t taste any – I could have flown like Santa’s reindeers!!! / / (1) The Fly Agaric Amanita muscaria is the famous white-spotted red toadstool beloved of children’s book illustrators. They are widely known as one of the few poisonous fungi in the UK, but it is not generally realised that this is because they are in fact strongly psychedelic. Eaten raw, they cause stomach cramps, hallucinations1 and, possibly, death. In some parts of Europe they have long been associated with magic and legend. In Lapland, reindeer regularly get high on them and are seen to leap around, giving rise to the story of Santa’s flying reindeer. Lapps have a custom of deliberately feeding them to their deer, and then collecting and drinking the urine because most of the toxins are filtered out by the reindeer’s digestive system. 1 They are not the same thing as ‘magic mushrooms’. (2) Also, ‘toad-stuhl’ is a German name meaning ‘seat of death’. _ / Landscapes Trees Cards EOD Rusty Flowers Architecture Macro CatchAll DM / /

  • I have produced hundreds of scribbles, sketches, drawings, cartoons and paintings over the years, yet when someone asks me how I come up with ideas for work I tell them I’m really not sure. A truly original idea for a piece of art is always a gift from somewhere else, and you just hope and pray it might happen again. I have thought about this subject a lot, about where inspiration or stream of consciousness comes from. The result was a large oil painting titled “Waiting for Inspiration”. It portrays a painter sitting on the floor of his studio adjacent to a large blank canvas propped up against the wall. A dirt road runs through the middle of the room, past the canvas and off into the distance. / The painter I guess is me, waiting to thumb that lift, to take that ride, to catch that inspiration.. before it passes through. / - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - - - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – - – /

  • Agra Station
    by Paul Vanzella

    US$4.99–US$133.00

Agra Station. The lights kept going out but the natural light proved quite atmospheric. A longish exposure captured the moment. I manged to take quite a few images in this moment of darkness and light – and was swamped by the people around me who were fascinated at the instant image on the back of my digital camera… God I love India!

  • Vale Ian Rilen
    by Juilee P Pryor

    US$5.70–US$152.00

Ian Rilen was a legendary Sydney rock and roller and a member of bands such as Rose Tattoo, X and Sardine V. He died earlier this year and is much missed for his wild and wonderful ways. I found this candid back stage shot of him and his then wife Stephanie preparing to go onstage at the Trade Union Club in Sydney’s Surry Hills way way back in the early 80’s. They were in Sardine V at that time and when I look at this shot now the eighties rush back. Oh my misspent youth. :) So Vale Ian Rilen, I so hope things are rocking were ever you are. This shot is for you.
