Personal collection. Oil on canvas. This didn’t end up saying what was intended. I started with an old black and white depression era photo and intended to make a statement about how unprepared we all are for what faces us environmentally, economically, and politically. Unfortunately, it ended up just being an interesting picture. I was disappointed.

A winter storm hit today which makes for a photo opportunity! I found this snow covered wagon behind an old garage. Seems it has seen its better days.. This sunset touched a place in my heart, to think of all the people that took a chance and walked over this great land in hope of a better life. I had just covered a months worth of travel. Not sure if I have the stuff it took for them to claim Oregon as a new home.

Old wagon wheels at a sheep farm or estancia near Puerto Natales in southern Chile, shot with a Canon 5D Mark II and EF 24-105mm IS L lens at 105mm Started with the colour version and placed a Black & White adjustment layer on top. That looked pretty good but it seemed to be lacking something so I fiddled with the opacity and settled on 75%. Then on another layer I played with the Vivid Light blending mode.
