  • Snake or Lizard?
    by Steven Sass

    US$3.99–US$91.20

Legless lizards are always being misidentified as snakes, and as a consequence, they often get a shovel over the back of the head! The easiest way to tell is that legless lizards have external ear openings (the small hole behind their eye) and a lizard type pointy nose. This one is the Plain snake-lizard Delma inornata and is found across eastern Australia, particularly in grassland or woodland habitats. This one was found beneath a rock in box gum woodland near Tarcutta, NSW, AU. The total length of this animal was around 20cm and about as thick as your little finger! / / Click on “View Larger” for greater detail.
