  • Love Rests on No Foundation
    by Sharon Mau

    US$5.32–US$121.60

“Love Rests on No Foundation ~ It is an endless ocean, with no beginning or end. Imagine, a suspended ocean, riding on a cushion of ancient secrets. All souls have drowned in it, and now dwell there. One drop of that ocean is hope, and the rest is fear.” ~ Quatrains of Rumi Plumeria Blossom on Lava Rocks / Hamoa Beach Maui Hawai`i Copyright © Sharon Mau / All Rights Reserved Featured in Natural Colour and Light group 25 December 2008 Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi This lovely Plumeria blossom floated from the tree which arches overhead as I was walking down the stone steps to the luxurious black sand beach of Hamoa, one of my favourite beaches on Maui. I was captivated with the beauty of it resting softly on the lichen blanketed lava rock and the contrasts of soft sensual beauty with the rough textures of the hardened magma. Of course I instantly stopped and photographed it. It is one of my favourites and I am happy you enjoy it

  • On The Terrace
    by Globalphotos

    US$4.99–US$114.00

Waiketere Terraces, North Island New Zealand,,,geothermal region Steam rises into the air on a cold, wet & dull day ….

  • This is the actual color of Crater Lake in Oregon. It is the deepest lake in the world, and because it has minimal animal or plant life in the lake, it is a pristine blue color. The lake was formed from the blast of a volcano (Wizard Island is the remnant). The only boats allowed are the tour boats, which are few and far between.

  • Alone

Walking down to the beach. It was a cool bleak day. These footprints caught my eye. The volcanic sand had flecks of purple in it which sparkled!. Quite a memorable experience

  • Smoke On The Water
    by Globalphotos

    US$4.99–US$114.00

The fascinating geothermal wonderland, Rotorua, New Zealand :)) / June 2008 The milky colour of the water of Sulphur Bay is caused by particles of sulphur being suspended in the water. This sulphur has been produced by hydrogen sulphide gas rising from the lake. / The smells of Sulphur Bay and Lake Rotorua are from sulphurous gases belched from the depths of the Earth and resemble rotten eggs !! / Steam and gases can be heard bubbling and roaring to the surface through vents and pools :)) WARNING / ©2008 Globalphotos All rights reserved. / All photographs, text and images by Globalphotos are the exclusive property of Globalphotos – protected under Australian and international copyright laws. / These images may not be reproduced, copied or manipulated without written permission. / No use for Public Domain. / Use of any image for another photographic concept or illustration is a violation of copyright.

  • Hawaiin Sunset
    by Nolan Nitschke

    US$4.99–US$114.00

There is nothing like the sunsets in Hawaii. They are truely something to behold. Unlike in the mountains, where usually only part of the sky shows the sunset colors, in Hawaii the entire sky glows with intense color. Maui, Hawaii. All content & images are © Nolan Nitschke. • Green Sand Beach
    by Yves Rubin

    US$21.38–US$114.00

Puu Mahana Beach (Green Sand beach) is the spectacular erosion product of a volcanic cinder cone near South Point on the Big Island of Hawaii. It can be reached by a 1-hour hike through beautiful scenics (take plenty of water!). The unusual tone of the green sand is due to the large proportion of semi-precious stone olivine polished crystals, which are left behind during the breakdown of lava. Crystals of olivine form in abundance during the cooling of hot lava. Because they are much harder than the lava matrix, they tend to accumulate near areas of lava erosion.

  • Dreamy Scape
    by Garry S

Ok…another Fingal shot. I can really say that this is one of my top 5 locations. Just love the versatility it provides. This shot has been PP using CS3 tilt shift technique. If you need explanations how that works you best ask Mel ...hehe / Let me know what you think? / Make sure you check the colour version too

  • View from Mt Kaputar
    by Marilyn Harris

    US$4.09–US$93.48

Blossom’s_Photo_Gallery View from Mt Kaputar Stopped to take in this spectacular view on my way up to the Summit of Mt Kaputar, New South Wales, Australia. Mount Kaputar National Park is located on 36,817 hectares and is 50 kilometres east of Narrabri and 570 kilometres north west of Sydney. Mount Kaputar National Park consists of a gathering of sharp peaks and rocky ranges, the remnants of a 17 million year old volcano. Millions of years of erosion have carved this volcanic pile into the Nandewar Range, with its dramatic landscape of lava terraces, volcanic plugs and ring dykes. At the peak of the range is Mt Kaputar, which reaches an altitude of 1510m. From the summit it is possible to take in 360 degree views encompassing one tenth of NSW. The National Park is popular with rockclimbers. There are 11 walks in the national park, most offering spectacular views of the area. The park protects a wide variety of plant communities, including semi-arid woodlands, wet eucalypt forests and subalpine heaths. Wildflowers in spring provide a magnificent display. It’s home to a host of animal species, and provides a haven for many threatened species – including bats, birds, wallabies, quolls and a unique large pink slug, which often appears after rain. • Ubehebe Crater
    by Globalphotos

    US$4.99–US$114.00

Death Valley National Park, USA / / The Ubehebe Crater system contains several volcanic craters, cinder cones and ash hills, all resulting from an explosive steam eruption approx. 2,000 years ago, when rising magma met an underground lake. Ubehebe is by far the largest crater, 2,400 feet in diameter and 500 feet deep and presents a very colorful spectacle with variegated, buckled strata around its sides and grey-black ash on the rim. A slippery climb with an awesome view !

  • Wai-O-Tapu wonderland
    by Tony Middleton

    US$5.65–US$129.20

Wai-O-Tapu (Māori for “Sacred Waters”) is an active geothermal area just north of the Reporoa caldera in New Zealand’s Taupo Volcanic Zone. Here the lake is formed by the surfacing of one of the largest hot springs in the area. It is roughly circular with a diameter of 65 m and a depth of 62 m. The surface temperature of the water is 74 °C and bubbles of carbon dioxide can be seen continuously rising to the surface, giving the pool its name. The pool’s distinctive orange edge is caused by the minerals orpiment and realgar, both sulphides of arsenic. / / / EOS A2, Fuji Velvia 50. / ©T.Middleton2008 —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—— / / / see more photographic works from New Zealand by clicking on the preview below
