Photographic based digital montage, 2007 (no 2 from series of 3 re-worked). Shot two seperate models & P/S combined them. I also draw in & enhanced part of the headpeice, the body, the dress, added a fringe to the face, hid the eyes, made the features more angular, blew up the lips, created cheekbones, reworked the branches, filtered wallpaper effects, extended the chandelier, added lacework/flower elements, desaturated the lot & added a sepia tone. Approximately 50 Photoshop layers.

Completed 1999. www.RainbowPathArtStudio.com “Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one” / – Albert Einstein It is so amazing how some paintings come into being and the effect they have on the unsuspecting viewer. In 1997 I was painting with a group of like-minded artists for an upcoming exhibition. One of the artists was a beautiful soul by the name of Greg Grace. Greg was a good friend of mine whose work I greatly admired. One day Greg was showing me some of his latest drawings and when I saw a sketch of the Gateway, I was blown away. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen, affecting me very deeply. I wanted to take it home to look at, every day. So I came up with a great solution, I would paint it! I approached Greg with the idea and much to my surprise he agreed. Greg liked the way I painted and felt that my style of painting would very much suit and enhance the powerful energy emanating from the mandala. He gave me the original drawing from which I worked. I absolutely loved painting the mandala. Painting the mandala in the dot style is the most effective and energetically powerful way of transmitting the essence of Gateway. The energy was so powerful at times that I could not work on the painting for more that a couple of hours a day. The original drawing was only of the mandala; I added the cosmic background because that’s where the gateway existed. When I look at the mandala in a meditative way I go through it to other dimensions. Intuitively, I sense that the Gateway exists within the middle star of the belt of Orion, and is the primary star-gate to multi- dimensional levels and universes. Every one of my friends who came to look at Gateway had a unique experience.

The leopard is a large carnivore of the cat family, Panthera pardus, widely distributed in Africa and Asia. It is commonly yellow, buff, or gray, patterned with black spots and rings. The rings, unlike those of the New World jaguar, never have spots inside them. Black leopards are commonly called panthers, a name sometimes used for all leopards. They are not a distinct species but merely a color variant caused by melanism, or excessive pigmentation. Close inspection reveals the typical spotting, which is obscured by the darkness of the background. Leopards are somewhat smaller than lions and tigers; the largest males are about 7 ft (2.3 m) long, including the 3-ft (90-cm) tail. Leopards are solitary, largely nocturnal, and good climbers; they hunt both on the ground and in trees. They prey mostly on small animals such as monkeys, rodents, and birds. Leopards are found in much of Africa south of the Sahara and in parts of Asia from Israel to Korea and Indonesia. They are listed as threatened or endangered throughout their range, owing primarily to loss of their natural habitat and to illegal killing for Oriental folk medicine. Panic attacks are unexpected, isolated periods of intense anxiety, fear and distress that are associated with a range of somatic and cognitive symptoms. The onset of these episodes is usually sudden, and may have no apparent start. Although these episodes may appear accidental, they are considered to be a subset of an evolutionary comeback commonly referred to as fight or flight that happen out of context, flooding the body with hormones as particularly adrenalin, that aid in defending itself from harm. The panic attack is different from other forms of anxiety by its concentration and its unexpected, episodic nature. / Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is the term for an acute and continuing emotional reaction to an excessive psychological trauma. The latter may involve someone’s real death or a threat to the patient’s or someone else’s life, serious physical injury, or threat to physical and/or psychological uprightness. It is important to make a difference between PTSD and Traumatic stress, which is an alike condition, but of less intensity and length. Hysteria was also related to “traumatic reminiscences” a century ago. At that time, Sigmund Freud’s pupil, Kardiner, was the first to portray what later became known as symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Stress is often defined as the reaction to a situation that threatens the balance or homeostasis of a system.

The Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abelii) is the rarer of the two species of orangutans. Living and endemic to Sumatra island of Indonesia, they are smaller than the Bornean Orangutan. The Sumatran Orangutan grows to about 4.6 feet tall and 200 pounds in males. Females are smaller, averaging 3 feet and 100 pounds. Compared to the Bornean Orangutan, the Sumatran Orangutans possess a lighter and longer pelage, a longer face, a smaller stature, and flanges that are covered in small white hairs. Wild Sumatran Orangutans in the Suaq Balimbing swamp have been observed using tools. An orangutan will break off a tree branch that’s about a foot long, snap off the twigs and fray one end. It then will use the stick to dig in tree holes for termites. They’ll also use the stick to poke a bees nest wall, move it around and catch the honey. In addition, orangutans use tools to eat fruit. When the fruit of the Neesia tree ripens, its hard, ridged husk softens until it falls open. Inside are seeds that the orangutans love, but they are surrounded by fiberglass-like hairs that are painful if eaten. A Neesia-eating orangutan will select a five-inch stick, strip off its bark, and then carefully collect the hairs with it. Once the fruit is safe, the ape will eat the seeds using the stick or its fingers. Although similar swamps can be found in Borneo, wild Bornean Orangutans have not been seen using these types of tools. Featured in Fantasy Art, Hairstyles, The Sisterhood, Pentacle Passions, The Divine Feminine, and Unconventional Artistry / (Another Klimt inspired piece). / I am very excited right now to be hosting a new group on Red Bubble, THE DIVINE FEMININE. I have been thinking a lot about the Divine Feminine and am reading a lot of the writings that came out of the 11th to 13th centuries. These writings encompass the stories of Camelot and “courtly love”. No other works in history have celebrated the Divine Feminine more than these. / In a time where the Catholic Church was brutally stomping out anything and anyone that honored the Divine Feminine, the writers of these stories had to hide their real intentions. They wrote some of the greatest love stories and poems of all time. To the unlearned these were just romantic tales, but to the initiates of the mysteries these were symbolic tales that would keep the Divine Feminine alive in the collective conscious until the goddess was able to return. / There are many stories of Nimue and Merlin. Merlin was the greatest wizard that ever lived and Nimue was the girl he fell in love with. The stories usually have Nimue using her feminine charms to entice Merlin into teaching her all of his sorcerery and then she uses her newly learned magic to bring Merlin to his death, making her the ultimate femme fatale. / To the Church authorities this story would have been allowed because it shows how women are evil temptresses that can even bring the death of the greatest sorcerer, but it’s truth was hidden in it’s symbolism. The writers of these Courtly love tales believed that all women were to be honored as the goddess, and it was through the love of the goddess that man transcended this world and became immortal. / Merlin would have been able to predict his own death, and yet he willingly hung out with Nimue. In one tale Nimue changes him into a hawthorn tree. The hawthorn tree to the ancient Celts was the symbol for the chalice itself (the Holy Grail). It held the divine secrets of everlasting life. Therefore Merlin became one with those divine secrets by way of Nimue (the goddess).

The white bengel tiger is not an albino, it has blue eyes. The white coat and light features are caused by a recessive gene. Very few survive in the wild because they do not have the ability to camoflauge themselves in their suroundings. Sadly, there are those who breed them for their exotic looks all for money. Because they occur so rarely, many orange tigers die or are mistreated in the process. Tigers are solitary hunters. They love the water, and are not afraid to chase their prey down into the water. In fact, this is how tigers often get food. The wait for an animal to be drinking at a water hole, then scares the animal into the water, where the tiger will chase it farther into deeper waters, making it easier to catch. Tigers have retractable claws. This enables them to walk through rocky, grassy, muddy, or sandy areas without dulling their claws, which they need to hunt with. Tigers eat almost anything in their range that they can catch. Large and medium sized prey, ungulates, rabbits, wild boar, deer, buffalo, young elephants and rhinos, waterfowl, and elk, make up the majority of their diet. They stalk their prey, and pounce when they are about 30 feet from their quarry. They kill by a lethal bite to the back of the throat, which often dislocates the backbone and severs the spinal cord. Often, a lethal bite is applied to the throat, which cuts off air supply and asphyxiates (suffocates) the animal. Tigers can eat as much as 40 lb (18 kg) of meat in one sitting. Tigers, like other felines, need to eat some grass to provide nutrients and roughage. Tigers will usually avoid humans because they do not provide much meat, and they prefer the taste of wild game. However, if a tiger becomes a maneater, there is usually a reason for it. One reason is that the tiger is very old, to the point where his teeth are worn down, and cannot catch wild game anymore. Humans are much easier to catch and kill, so they prey on humans. Another, more common reason, is the tiger was injured or sick, and can no longer hunt for itself. However, many tigers, like those that live in the mangrove forests of the Sundarbans, seem to have a taste for humans. No one knows why they do this, as these tigers are young and healthy. Some speculate that they are guarding their territory, others think that the salty waters in the marsh they drink makes them irritable. These tigers, however, do not come into human settlements, they only kill humans that have wandered too far into the mangrove forests. People who venture into the forests to gather wood and food wear masks on the backs of their heads since tigers only attack them from behind. Since they started this, the numbers of tiger attacks have been greatly reduced. However, once a tiger becomes a man-eater, it will not cease, and has to be destroyed to protect people.

I finally got inspired to finish her. I made her a lot bigger than the others in the series, so that should appease her for me taking so long on her. / She is the Spirit of the North Wind. It is the wind of Winter and of death, but also of rebirth. She gives us the wisdom to overcome death and to know it is not the end. We must walk through the Northern gate at the end of this life and she will be the one to usher us through. I thought it too precious to delete, so I worked it like crazy with filters, colorizing, etc. I’m rather happy with the outcome considering it was otherwise headed for the recycle bin. Highly edited!

Our ancient ancestors always knew what direction they were facing and connected with the spirits of all directions. By connecting with these ancient spirits too we can begin to feel connected to the Oneness of all that is. Common Buckeye ~ Junonia coenia Hübner, [1822] enjoying a Zinnia (Zinnia elegans) Family: Brush-footed Butterflies (Nymphalidae) Subfamily: True Brushfoots (Nymphalinae) Identification: Upperside is brown. Forewing with 2 orange cell bars and 2 eyespots; part of white subapical band appears in the largest, lower eyespot. Hindwing has 2 eyespots; upper one is largest and contains a magenta crescent. Underside of hindwing is brown or tan in the wet season (summer) form and rose-red in the dry season (fall) form. Life history: Males perch during the day on low plants or bare ground to watch for females, flying periodically to patrol or to chase other flying insects. Females lay eggs singly on leaf buds or on upperside of host plant leaves. Caterpillars are solitary and eat leaves. Caterpillars and adults overwinter but only in the south. Flight: Two to three broods from May-October, throughout the year in the Deep South. Wing span: 1 5/8 – 2 3/4 inches (4.2 – 7 cm). Caterpillar hosts: Plants from the snapdragon family including snapdragon (Antirrhinum) and toadflax (Linaria); the plantain family including plantains (Plantago); and the acanthus family including ruellia (Ruellia nodiflora). Adult food: Favorite nectar sources are composites including aster, chickory, gumweed, knapweed, and tickseed sunflower. Dogbane, peppermint, and other flowers are also visited. Habitat: Open, sunny areas with low vegetation and some bare ground. Range: Resident in the southern United States and north along the coasts to central California and North Carolina; south to Bermuda, Cuba, Isle of Pines, and southern Mexico. Adults from the south’s first brood migrate north in late spring and summer to temporarily colonize most of the United States and parts of southern Canada. Comments: The eyespots may be used to scare away predators. Conservation: Not required. NatureServe Global Status: G5 – Demonstrably secure globally, though it may be quite rare in parts of its range, especially at the periphery.

She is the angel, the heroine, the goddess who shines through the psychological darkness like a bright sky beckoning the beholder to follow their dream, risk the passage, and at all costs continue the quest. The adorning Peacock feather is symbolic of royalty and potency. In alchemy the peacock is cousin to the Phoenix, the mythical bird who rises from the ashes. Forteana / Available as an art print, poster and card. Charles Fort was a Dutch-American writer who has inspired sci-fi writers with his wild and often visionary glimpses into the future. Today the word Fortean has come to mean anomalous phenomena.
