A few weeks ago (or maybe more..) i came to a point where i wanted to have small something (widget, feed, etc) that i can place on my main website (webgrrl.biz) and few other blogs that i have.. something that shows what’s been sold recently from all the places i have my art.. The only quick solution i could come up with (and with no cost) was to make a blog and post the info items, and taking the opportunity to Thank the buyer at the same time.. and so artSOLD was ‘born’ From there, i can then grab the rss feed and utilize it in many different ways.. my favourite being the widget at widgetbox : see here In a marketing and business sense, I’m not sure if this has been done before. We usually make a blog or websites to promote what art we make and whats for sale.. but making a blog/journal of what we’ve sold, i haven’t come across, and i have this belief that people like to know what people are buying, popular etc too.. So i thought, Why Not to have one for what’s sold!? Plus if/when buyer comes across the acknowledgment of thanks, thats a positive energy too…and im all about and for Spreading the Goodness! artSOLD took me a full day to set up, using a free blogger template i went lookin for.. Then i put thinkin caps on to see what ‘widget, promotional’ goodies there is available from all the three main places i associate with.. maybe you want to make one too.. :) Its a nice journal to have, and it makes you work just that bit harder (in promotions especially) so that you get sales, and that means a new post! :)
Awake or asleep, it matters not to me, so make your preparations. / And say your final prayers. In the end I will utterly annihilate you.
I have always prided myself on the fact I rarely get sick, and on those rare occasions when I do get a cold or flu it is usually done and dusted in 24 hours and I’ve hardly missed a beat. / I have, I admit, even tended to look down my nose a little at those who succumb to such things as being…weak somehow. Today I am humbled as I progress into day 6 of a flu which still has a grasp on me and which, a few days ago, reduced me to a feeble little mess of humanity begging for some relief. I am not kidding. Today I am feeling more like myself but I am taking nothing for granted just yet. I guess I have learned respect, with a club – and every symptom of flu you can have. Be careful people. My Doc said this particular SuperFlu has an average cycle of 10 to 14 days! Bloody hell, what have we been breeding with our antibiotics?

Yesterday the infamous artist formerly known as Resisto unleashed his RES-101 on an unsuspecting community, not only giving us a look at this new and bold creation, but in the true spirit of copyleft, handing over the instructions for all and sundry to assist in the creation of a wind-up army. Having no intention of ever really growing up, I couldn’t think of a better way to pass an hour than to build a big cardboard robot, actually I made it slightly bigger than it was, but only because as you can see my desk hasn’t improved much since the Melbourne days, and RES-101 would have a lot to contend with. In fact, I popped out later on for a copy of ‘Fly Fishing’ by J R Hartley and when I came back RES has escaped the clutter and was trying to shin over the back wall. So I put him in the oven. Now go and make your own and tell Scott he’s a champion. I think we need to mark the spread of the army on a world map.

Someone comes into work with a sniffle and a cough, next thing you know the whole office has it. Then everyone’s partners and kids seem to have it. Before you know it, half the neighborhood seems to be coughing and sniffling. This is a virus. And typically they are not very nice. Someone in the office sees a funny commercial online and bursts into laughter in their cubicle. In fact, it’s so funny they then forward it to a bunch of colleagues who then send it to all their mates. Before you know it, everyone has seen it. People start to make parodies of it. Then you talk about “that guy in the somethingbrand ad” and everyone knows who you mean and has a chuckle with you. This is viral marketing. And it’s very nice if it’s promoting you. So you have decided, yep, I like the idea of heaps of people sharing and forwarding my email/video/podcast/picture. Now what? What will make it viral? While there are no hard and fast rules, here are some elements of good viral campaigns… Embrace emotion. Make people feel something. Move them. Make them laugh. Offer free stuff. If I saw good free stuff, I’d tell my friends so they can get in on it too – wouldn’t you? Be prepared for more traffic. If it works, you will be busier. Don’t make a commercial. Share a story. Share something you would tell people about. If it’s hard to share, no one will do it. Make it really really easy to forward on. Surprise people. Purple camel milkshake, you raunchy beast. People remember surprises. This guy goes into more detail
Beautiful fireworks-style seed pod. Original pod was browny black, but i added a blue filter for a different effect. I think it looks rather like a viral spore under the microscope… As a framed print: /
