“The gloss in each grain shows a rainbow of colours unthinkable of in a corncob. Each grain has its own peculiar pattern with an intrinsic design in it. Scintillating like polished round marbles, they exude life and vibrancy. Golden hues, brown, black dissolving into copper, mauve turning into magenta, pink mixed with orange … myriad combinations bring to life the glorious colours of Indian Corn. / / Each grain weaves a pattern in a tapestry meticulously designed. Piled casually upon each other on a farm stand, these corncobs make a delightful array of surprising beauty.” / / / Read more about Indian Corn in my written article: / / Indian Corn- Nature’s Kaleidoscope.

“Autumn brings along crisp air and the last harvest batch before Nature becomes dormant for winter. Yet, pumpkins seem to be saying: “Watch our glorious colours and shapes despite cool and rainy days!”. / The striking patterns of this humble plant is a feast to the eyes. “Autumn brings along a radiant tapestry of harvest crops. Walking along the many farm stands, I indulge myself in the sheer presence of these simple, yet unbelievably beautiful vegetables and fruits. Amidst glorious pumpkins in the colours of rainbow, gorgeous strawberries and glossy gourds, the exquisite patterns and colours of Indian Corn stand out. / / Piled casually upon each other in baskets, the corn ears make a delightful array of vibrant beauty. Gleaming like tiny jewels, each corn grain bears a distinctive colour. Golden hues, brown turning into copper, mauve turning into magenta, chartreuse, pink mixed with orange, pure white and pitch black. Each grain weaves a pattern meticulously designed. / / I find inspiration in the simple elements of Nature by discovering, in a closer approach, their elaborated forms, their patterns and intricacies, their sheer beauty. They teach me a lesson on survival, too. The colour of each Indian Corn grain is goverened by genes. The pigment may aid in the defense against diseases, hence, a wide array of colours in a single corn ear raises the chances of survival. / / As myriad colours happen in a single corn ear, each one is unique in its design. The rendering “Babe in Diapers”, was shot using a dark room perspective. My original thought process was based on a 1899 portrait entitled “his master’s voice” by Francis Barraud. When I shot this piece of the “Babe in Diapers”, I sincerely, wanted my viewers to relate to the nostalgic feeling of Barraud’s original. Go to this link to see Barraud’s original work: http://www.designboom.com/history/nipper.html
