Theres a tiny village in Mid Wales called Bont Dolgadfan and this is the smallest cottage there. I used one original image and processed it in Photoshop. / Layer modes and adjustment layers were used. / Curves, levels, dodge and burn, were also utilised. / Several layers in total and a fair amount of time used. / Copyright 2007 richiedean Clickable images

This shot was taken in Copacabana in 2006, a little town in the north of Bolivia, situated on the bank of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world at 3800 mts. / There was a big celebration in town that day and so much to see and discover. But I was so tired that I decided to sit down and rest for a while when those two men sat just in front of me. I took so many pictures of them but this one is my favorite.

Gerroa is an idyllic village at the Kiama end of Seven Mile Beach on the south coast of New South Wales … their sunset on Tuesday (6 January 08) was aided by smoke haze from bushfires in the Morton National Forest. After a day in which temperatures reached 40 degrees celsius and beyond, there were plenty of relaxed holiday-makers still enjoying the ambience, the breeze and the spectacular skies. / (Mocha timber frame/off white matt/medium size) / Greeting Card hand drawn on paper / digital painting Legend of Little Geisha / art and story by K Taylor (4/09) In the village of Ishekawa by the Sea of Japan lived a poor couple who wove and carved for a living. The couple had no real possessions but were content with the beauty of the mountains and the sea surrounding them, and happy to be together. The only thing they wished for and did not yet have, was a child to call their own. One day, an ancient crone visited their home and as always, the couple offered their hospitality, gave her rice cakes and sake to warm her belly. The old crone, in return for their kindness, bestowed upon the couple the ability to have a girl child. The child grew from a seed into a strong and beautiful young woman, glowing with pride and joy, she was the delight of Ishekawa by the Sea of Japan, and many young suitors came to visit and pay her homage. But as is the way with old crones, you can never quite trust them to do you a favour without some twist in the tale. Unfortunately, the seed from which the child grew, began to sprout roots, and she was bound to the earth. In time the beautiful young girl became a majestic tree and all the birds from near and far came to perch and nest in her branches, she gave them shelter from the wind and rain, and everyone who knew the legend realised the tree was actually the Little Geisha. / here’s the drawing (above) prior to being digitally coloured

Lt. General Wade’s Bridge at Aberfeldy in the Breadalbane region of Highland Perthshire (Breadalbane means “Highland Scotland” in Gaelic). Shot taken on Saturday 20th December 08 in the middle of our winter. Designed by William Adam, Scotland’s best architect. The total cost was £3,596 or, in today’s terms, over £1m. ”... a freestone bridge over the Tay, of five arches, nearly 400ft. in length, the middle arch 60 feet wide, the starlings of oak and the piers and landbreasts founded on piles shod with iron….” (House of Commons Journal, 7th February 1734). The bridge was first opened to traffic at the end of October 1733. Wade regarded it the greatest of his considerable achievements in road-making. In 9 years he had personally supervised the construction of over 250 miles of military roads in the Highlands – the first engineered roads in Britain since Roman times. lt is now the only one of Wade’s 35 major bridges to remain in use as a public highway. Built for 18th century wheeled carriages, it survives to the 21st century as a great memorial to a great roadbuilding engineer. The River Tay, Scotland longest river, meanders across Scotland from Loch Tay before flowing out to sea at the Firth of Tay. According to tradition, Sestri Levante was founded by the Ligurian tribe of the “Tigullii” and it was already known in the Roman Age under the name “Segesta Tigulliorum”. The ancient core of the town developed in the Middle Ages in a fortified position on the “island”. After the 15th century, the town expanded onto the alluvial plain south of the Gromolo river. Sestri Levante then became part of the Fieschi family’s domain, until it passed under the flags of the Republic of Genoa, which built the castle on the “island” and kept control of the town until the Napoleonic conquest.

Cusco, Peru’ ! / While walking in Cusco a few days ago I met this little girl, Flor, and her sister Yolanda ! I had already taken a picture of them last year ” Flor y Yolanda ” and when I showed them a copy of the photo.. they were so impressed that they asked me to take more pictures. This is just one of the many I took ! She is so confident and loves to be photographed !!! I love this picture for the way she poses here, the way she smiles, her spontaneity.. and the beautiful contrast of colors !!!

A croft is a very small farm, or smallholding. Sheep and a few cattle will be kept, and maybe a few crops grown, mostly potatoes, since they do well on the often wet and impoverished soil. Summer is a very short season at this Latitude (57 degrees North) Very few people will make a full living from crofting, and have other full- time employment. There are also quite a few ‘holiday cottages’, or second homes, purchased by ‘incomers’ / since many indigenous folk have given up the crofting life for what they consider to be an easier, or more attractive living. / The weather here can be pretty unforgiving !! / Tarskavaig, on a day like this, sits in a very idyllic situation , with the Cuillin hills as a backdrop. The mountain here is known as ‘The Blaven’. Shot on a Canon EOS 40D, f22, with polarising filter, on tripod, single RAW file, processed in PS CS3 with Levels and Curves adjustments. LAB colour employed to saturate the colours. / The line of cottages was used to draw the eye into the scene.
