I met Mr Chivy at the front of his home (visible in the background), in the middle of nowhere in particular, while cycling from Takeo to Kampot, Cambodia. From my conversation with him, through an interpreter, I was able to understand that he survived the Khmer Rouge regime by hiding in the jungle for 3 years. Apparently he was quite young at the time. His mother was Khmer, while his father was of Vietnamese origin. Interestingly enough, the name ‘Chivy’ means ‘Life’ in Khmer. He was one of the kindest, most pleasant people I’ve met anywhere in the world.

This was taken in Vietnam late one night in January 2008. I was enjoying the evening warmth and noticed this frog behind me in the bushes. This image came second is the Fabulous Froggies! Macro Frog competition in August 2009.
Got a sneaking suspicion this might get pulled off soon (for want of a better term), so snap it up while you still can!

Happy Easter card in several languages (those supported by my ancient version of Photoshop, at least). Is yours there?
I got a glimpse of her from across the street and I could not believe my luck that she was right in front of this bright yellow building, a perfect complement to her dark blue clothing. She was selling lottery tickets. Taken in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Vietnam! taken with Canon Powershot SX100
Taken in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. She was simply waiting for the bus and I loved that she was dressed in pure white against the white backdrop of the bus shelter. I did add a curves adjustment to give it a cross-processed feel as I felt in the end that the white on white (and taken in very bright sunshine) was just a little too bright.

Smoky Thoughts was Featured in the group “B&W – Character – People Shots” November 09, 2009 This is not a portrait in which I shot, it is one in which i have rendered from it’s original, and have turned it into black and white, leaving the background out and softening the textures as well as applying a bit more light from the left direction towards his face.
I really hope you enjoy this recent artwork design of mine! It is meant to be a little bit fuzzy for added texture! Take care my friends & thanks so much for your visit! Smiles Leilani :0)
